We lost today. We bowled first and restricted them to 169 (34 overs from a 40 over game) and I got 1 wicket. Our openers started slowly and dragged the run rate down and we just started collapsing, then after finally getting a proper bat in my Adults team, I made 61 not out including 1 six and 9 fours. I ran out of partners in the end and we lost by 19 runs. I batted at number 4.

I dont know why i'm even bothering to type this. Absolutly abysmal performance by the team, though i did alright personally. we made 54 all out!!!, and they made that only 2 down. I took 1-18 off 6 overs, bowled 5 wides i think though which was disapointing.

hello all, bowled very very well yesterday in nets, must have beat the bat about 15 times, against out 1st teamers to, about 5 of them would have been stumpings, also i was turning the ball stupiidly at times, it was pitchign on off and then would have been a wide, bpwled a few good googlys and a couple of sliders.
didn't get a bat, but still im very happy with how it went

Looking forward to my first net in a couple of weeks later on today. Just had a few practice balls out the back at work and all seems to still be working.

Great stuff. However, your captain should have kept a pace bowler for the last over, thats useful when restricting runs. Tell us how you get on in the finals. |

I dont brag. You can check all my posts and I rarely say anything good about what I've done. I prefer to tell people of my mistakes than of my successes. It's better for everyone. However, I get your point, nobody likes reading about people scoring centuries and taking loads of wickets, they like reading about people overcoming obstacles and working on simple things in nets.

Might wanna read the title of the thread. 'How's your season going?'. Obviously you're going to read people's success and failures. |

didn't get a bat but my bowling wasnt bad, as deadly to left handers as
ever, bowled one of them with an off cutter that moved a country mile.
Love to hear the clunk of the stumps. Was as wayward as ever to the
right handers although had them playing and missing a bit with the same
delivery, the few that landed on the off stump cut past the edge,
really really need to work on accuracy however.

well my training was some sort of nightmare, once again I bowled awfully. I only took two wickets. Nothing was coming out right. My batting against the seniors was comical. A guy who was deceptively quick at about 70 mph bowled a perfect length, I went on the back foot, it stayed low and actually broke the stump, debris was flying everywhere. My batting against the juniors was godly though. I was only out once and that was because my bat got stuck in my hand when the guy bowled a yorker. (no really
) However, I noticed that whenever I came out of batting I bowled badly because of my sweaty fingers so I will bat last next time.

Perhaps the handful of people who are bragging are too young and not yet mature enough to know that you must identify your own mistakes and work on them in order to maximize your potential.

My net wasn't ideal yesterday. I was first up to face the bowling machine, but that wasn't working and it took a while to get it working, so I had to make do with some throwdowns, although I did get some benefit by targeting 2 specific shots; the pickup slog over midwicket which was fine, and the square cut, which for some reason I hit miles in front of square (I like to kid myself that this is because I see it so quickly and am on to it in a flash but probably has more to do with incorrect body position).
I didn't have problems with my bowling action this week which was a relief, and had a reasonable groove going - every week people comment on how much I am swinging it which can't be bad using tatty old net balls indoors. |

You're playing it too early Clobbs, which is not the same as seeing it early. Any earlier and you'll be pulling leg through mid-on.

When you win the toss - bat.
If you are in doubt, think about it - then bat. If you have very big doubts, consult a colleague - then bat. |

New here ... but I'll give you a quick rundown of the season for the Revesby Worker's B Reserves:
Bit of background first .... last 2 seasons we've finished 2nd last ... enough said. This season we've managed to find some decent batsmen & that has seen us able to chase down & set some very challenging totals. Our bowling attack has always been strong, so with runs on the board we've been quite hard to beat. Managed to finish the regular season in 2nd place this time around!!! We're in the Semi's against Panania with a spot in the Final on the line. |

Batted well wnough again in the nets today, only got out once when I misread a googly and it clattered into my off stump. Our keeper who was in the net as well also failed to stump me twice, even when I got caught in the netting trying to get back in.
I then went into the quick net and batted quite well, still not that happy with my shots through the offside though

betted solidly in nets today. only lost my wicket once to an offie who bowled it so it hit my pads 2 feet down the leg side, it then rebounded off my pads on to the stumps. The bowler found that funny
. Once again my bowling was so so. A couple were really good but once again, no consistency. However, I've been steadily improving and by June I think I'll be good.

When you're in the nets, you should be valuing your wicket highly. The habits you develop in the nets will follow you into your games.

BDCA B-Reserve Semi Final - Day 1 (of 2)
Revesby Workers (my boys) won the toss & elected to bat first. We'd made 295 off 54 overs the week before so we were pretty confident with the willow in our hands ..... We were dismissed for 108. I got 4 (n.o), my second highest score of the season!!! :D Panania RSL went into bat requiring 108 to seal a place in the final, with 70 overs in which to get the runs. With an hour and a half left in the days play things were looking grim. When the day's play ended, Panania were 36/6, requiring 82 odd to win the match. Great bowling by Matty & Brett never let their batsmen settle. Day 2 report will be made 2moro. |

had a net yesterday, and after bowling the best i ever have for the 2 weeks before, i was hoping/expecting to carry on doing really well.
but for the 1st hour i couldn't find my rythm at all, i wasnt bowling amazingly badly but nothing was feeling right.
i then had a bat when i didn't loose my wicket but i probibly only scored about 10 runs
after my bat i bowled for about 10 more minutes without finding my rythm
and then i iventualy found it, and when i did there was only about another 10 minutes left of the net.
im still glad we had the net though because i now know more about finding my rythm, and ive learned alittle more about myself

Update on the Workers v. Panania Semi Final.
After being 36/6 at the close of play, the Workers bundled out Panania for 48 early on the 2nd day. After going back in to bat, the Workers finished on 54/2, with Panania conceeding they had no chance to get the runs with the time remaining. WE'RE IN THE FINAL! |

I bowled really well today, I'm so glad to have discovered my form. It was like a whole new experience to be taking regular wickets and bowlin g it on leg stump a lot. I got 2 bowls, 7 stumpings and god knows how many catches. I knew I could do it.
My batting was alright, I only got out once in an hour of batting andit was an attempted slog with a few balls left to play. I wasn't moving my feet much at all and that is something I am going to work on. I actually batted best against the 70mph bowlers. I was cutting and driving them well. Overall, it was a great day for me that has inspired me to try harder and harder to move my spin bowling from good to great. |
