Anyway, back on topic.

I had cricket on Friday and I was unusually accurate except the odd one that went for 6! I didn't spin it as much as usual although I fixed that problem when I got home so everything looks good for tomorrow! (I hope)

I had a shocker, was hungover at nets, not to mention tired and injuried and generally struggled to get the ball to land on the pitch. one ball hit the roof of the net about a metre away from me so I was able to catch it on the way down which is embaressing believe me.

One of the most amazing matches today. On Saturday they batted with 50 overs, I was 12th man, we had them at 6/61 but then as usual we let the opposition a vital match saving partnership.

They ended up on 9/162 from there alotted 50 overs. I stopped two brilliant ondrives with extra-ordinary dives to my left in successive bowls. Our fielding was pathetic after drinks so too was our bowling. We ended the day on a sour note.

Monday Today we had to chase down 163 to make the granny. We started off bad at one stage in the same position as them 6-68. We were shaking in our boots. All I could do was watch on, we then lost our 8th wicket for 128 then two balls our number 10 batsman was bowled. 35 runs from 48 balls with 1 wicket in hand in comes our equal worst batsman with me.

Our keeper is there 45* he maintained strike amazing three consecutive boundaries in a row off the captains bowling. We then needed 2 from 24. I could not watch our number 11 batsman had to face a whole over on the last ball a ran a single, scores locked up next over last ball again he blocks runs a single fielder overthrows we get two more and won in the most amazing circumstances.

We won by a thrilling 1 wicket after we just heard the U17's team lost by a wicket. The 10th wicket was an unbeaten 35 run stand with the keeper making 30 of those runs and number 11 making 3. We are now in the final steaming confidencer after two nail-biting finishes I think we can do it, I'm playing next week cause I was 12th man.IM EXCITED!!!

A proper net session yesterday which was a relief after the previous week.

I had a good work out with the machine, which was at a decent pace and set at that awkward back of a length mark and it was really interesting try to work out ways to score off it, which at one point including shuffling right across my stumps to flick it down to fine leg. I might try that in a match this year if there is a gap left there.

Then it was into the bowlers net and there was a good standard being sent down and I went pretty well including hitting a couple of pulls near the end, one of which is right up there with the best shots I have ever played. Shame to waste it on a net really...

I had a good day today playing an inter school match .I got 2 wickets for 7 runs from 3.4 overs but scored a first ball duck .Eventually won with just 1 wicket to spare .The ball was turning square and so 5 of those seven runs were sides .Embarrassed

Good net last night.
Played alright, keeping my eye in well. Hitting through the V much better, and driving a lot better. Only downside was that I missed a hook that smashed me in the ribs, so they've been sore all day.

Keeping went pretty good, standing up to things I wouldn't have dreamed of last year, and taking everything.

Perhaps in a week, I guess you'll lose that form and be bowling lots of rubbish again. LOL

It was a joke. Hah, from what I read about your form, sounds as if it is on and off every minute. :P

What are you saying? You're saying I'm not honest?

Well, the old bat is dusted down and back in action.  A couple of hours in the nets tonight with numbers 1 & 2 sons hurling balls at me at a fair old pace, only took a clattering riser into my forearm and a few nifty ones into the front thigh - almost looking forward to those familiar bruises tomorrow.

Note to self: ageing body heals more slowly each year - get out of way or use bat as nature intended.............
When you win the toss - bat.
If you are in doubt, think about it - then bat. If you have very big doubts, consult a colleague - then bat.
