Vaas is having some fun at the end, but the run rate is nearly up to 10 an over now with 20 overs to go. 1-0 India.

india won quite comfortably. i thought after the ganguly/chappell war there would be some problem in the indian team.
tendulker is back and he's in great form. a 96 of 93.

As briefly as possible, a private argument/falling out between the two of them over Ganguly's captaincy/form which turned public and resulted (probably) in him being dropped from the one day team for the first games of the Sri Lanka series.

and ganguly asked chappel if he would choose him(ganguly) over 2 other indians and chappell said no, frankly, he would rather chose the other 2 over ganguly.

Bad news for Lankan fans , they lost the toss again and will be batting first. Dravid had no problems in making that decision - the dew factor and the poor floodlighting at Mohali is more than enough reason.
My personal thinking is that all ODI's in the Subcontinent at this time of year should be day games - the dew factor is a major handicap for the side bowling 2nd. Spinners simply can't grip the ball and the ball gets changed so many times as well , that the seamers have to continually readjust.
For Sri Lanka to win they're going to have to make a huge total , anything less will see them 2-0 behind.

Oh dear!! Jayasuriya goes for a duck , 2nd ball , caught by Sehwag at 3rd man off Pathan. The inform Sangakarra opened with him and is joined by the out of sorts Atapattu.
Sri Lanka 1-1

Shorten that now from out of sorts to just plain OUT! Atapattu goes , caught behind off Agarkar and they're 13-2 and in trouble.
Jayawardene joins Sangakarra and were in the 5th over.

53-3 after 12 overs , Jayawardene gone for only 7.
Sangakarra going nicely on 27 (30)
Arnold on 7
Lots of work for these two here!

56-5 !!!!!!!! Pathan takes 2 in 2 and most importantly , the 1st was Sangakarra , followed 1st ball by Dilshan.
Fantastic spell by the young leg armer here 4-34 off 7 overs - he's having a terrific series so far.
Nothing good to say for Sri Lanka , 2-0 is staring them in the face!

122 all out. Sangakkara (27) top scored with Chandana next on 19*.
India 3/0 in response.

skittled for 122. what chance a murali special?! looks bleak for sri lanka, and if india start bowling well as a unit then look out the rest of the world (not that shambles, but all other international teams!). |

50-0 after 6 overs and comtempt for the Sri Lankan bowlers by Tendulkar and Sehwag.
Sad for the paying fans , although most are Indian and enjoying it , they'll all be home early and robbed of what could have been another Sachin masterpiece...

Tea taken (maybe a long one too!) and India in some trouble chasing Sri Lanka's formidable total of 122. They are on 80-1 and the inexperienced Sachin Tendulkar is still there on 36. Virender Sehwag was out for 38 and there's only 40.2 overs to get the 43 required - it's looking grim for India......

Tight , tight finish here , India still require 8 runs with only 9 wickets in hand. Worse still , they have ONLY 33.4 overs to get there....the novice , Tendulkar has a scratchy 61 and with work , might make a decnt player...
......loks like a nailbiter!!!

India look good right now, but all those who are suddenly assuming that they are a threat to the rest of the world must remember that India are devastating at home and useless away from it. Hence their ODI ranking of seventh, even despite these two good wins.
Good to see Tendulkar batting like a dream!
And thank you India, your win over Sri Lanka allows South Africa to leapfrog into 2nd in the world ranking with their 11th straight win, recorded against NZ this morning.

JH Kallis is the only player in history to have 8000 runs, 200 wickets and 100 catches in BOTH forms of the game. Only Sobers (tests) and Jayasuriya (one dayers) have achieved half that feat.

well, first of all congrads to SA on becoming second best in ODIs.
second, india are back and have just beat SL second time in the 7 ODI series. india are 2-0. tendulker is really helping india with a 96 in the first match and a 67 (i think) not out in the second match. he is back and back for good.

Sri Lanka win the toss and chose to bat 1st in the 3rd ODI of this marathon series.
Cautious start , they are 67-1 after 16 overs. 33* to Sangakarra , with Atapattu on 13. Jayasuriya fell for 15 to the bowling of Agarkar.

Sri Lanka are playing slower and slower. But its the beginning and they still got the whole batting order left.

Good work by Sangakarra and Jayawardene here , putting on 149 unbroken stand.
Sangakarra has 108 and Jayawardene 65
Sri Lanka 221-2 after 43 overs.
Looks like this could be a competitive total....

Blistering end to the Sri Lankan innings with Sangakarra playing brilliantly for an unbeaten 138 (147) with 13 4's and 2 6's.
Maharoof joined in the fun with a sparkling cameo of 33 (16) with 4 4's and a 6 !!
Sri Lanka 298-4 off their 50 overs - tough one for India to chase , but they're in fine form at the moment , could be a close one.

Well India get their innings underway and lose Tendulkar for only 2 , Vaas the bowler. Dhoni joined Sehwag and has hit 2 6's already and India are 34-1 after 6 overs.
Both batsmen have 16 runs.

Serious assault by Dhoni and Sehwag here , with Sehwag the junior partner!
India 67-1 after 9 , Dhoni 43 (35) Sehwag 22 (18)
Looks like the Indians are on the warpath!!
Maharoof 2 overs for 27 !!

Beligerent batting by Dhoni takes him past 50 and India into a strong position. Sri Lanka have turned to Murali to try and stem the flow and grab a wicket.
India now cruising at 90-1 after 13 overs
Dhoni 53 (36) 6 4's 3 6's
Sehwag 35 (32) 3 4's

Murali traps Sehwag in front playing a heave-ho across the line - gone for 39.
Dravid joins Dhoni , who carts Chandana into the crowd for his 4th 6 !!
No holding back by the youngster - India 111-2 off 17

Terrific stuff from Dhoni , now on 97* with 5 6's and 10 4's !! Dravid supporting nicely with 13 (16) and India in total control at 157-2 after only 22 overs.
Some of those predictions before the start of the series are looking a little silly fellas !!

Mass hysteria in the subcontinent as Dhoni get to his ton off only 85 balls. Nothing , it seems can stop India from going 3-0 ahead , needing another 116 off 24 overs .
India 183-2 after 26 Dhoni 103 and Dravid 27 (30)

Murali does it again , getting Dravid caught and bowled for a brisk 28. Yuvrav Singh in now and India 185-3 after 28 overs.
