Yes, India were very ordinary in that practice game and I think with both Zaheer and Sreesanth out of the tour India's bowling looks weaker than ever before. I don't know how will they get 20 wickets with that attack.

Mendis was outstanding again, cannot and simply cannot understand why he is left out of first test!!! Shocked

Pujara has 14 100's,13 50's and profilic 60+ average so far. No worries after "The Wall" retires , a new wall is comming up soon.Laxman's place can be easily filled in.India has so many good player in waiting in line.

The only boot that might be partially filled could be of SRT,but I guess that will also be filled.

Same thing was said about Kumble but India is still missing him. So keep dreaming.

Rohit Sharma - What the world has seen is gear 1, gear speed 2,3,4,5,7,8,9 to be witnessed in IPL only.

Yuvraj pretty well knows that this is his final chance, excellent youngsters like Sharma,Pujara,Kholi,Raina and many more are in line, I feel he will make this opportunity count and cement his place. Well he has to , there is no other route for him.

Practice match just goes to show that without a proper bowling attack no matter how strong the batting line up is , it does not count a bit.

I could be making a gamble tonight of staying up and watching the first session, that is ofcourse, if India bats first.  Sehwag hasn't played much lately due to injury and to be honest, he's the only reason I'll be staying up late!  If Sri Lanka wins toss or Sehwag falls very early, i'll be catching up on some sleep.

SLn batting first but quite an electric start so far 55/0 in 10 overs!

256/2, and Indian bowling attack looks little toothless. Good on Sangakkara and Paranavithana, especially the latter who could not convert his starts to a bigger score. The odd ball is spinning, and that will make Herath very effective with his carom ball.

SLN in a commanding position indeed and yes, as expected the Indian bowling without Zaheer is absolutely nothing. as I have written in my earlier post, taking 20 wickets with this attack is very very difficult.

Well, one things for certain, i'm gonna be up tonight, even after planning to go jogging 25 odd minutes later.  Yep, that guy Virender Sehwag is at the crease and is doing a norm.  Hope he carries on to another big score so I can get some excitement later, if the rain stay away ofcourse.

Hope we get some extra 10 overs tommorow. If Shewag,Yuvi,Dhoni and Lax bat entire tommorow then without doubt they will overhaul 520.If that happens , I want some drama on final day, no matter who wins.Murali's final test has to be dramatic.

Maybe India reach 321 quick time(even if they get all out that would be fine as long as they cross 321) and give a bold decleration ala Stephen Fleming and press for a result.

238-5 and still only the one wicket for Murali - 800 looks a long way away just now. Yuvraj (38) and Dhoni (29) going along easily.

Murali has 4 and now 800 looks just round the corner. Will SRL impose the follow on? SRL can tighten the grip on the final day with Murali in his pomp -

Yep , he cleans up the tail yet again , without any fuss whatsoever!   Rather surprising that he was held back for quite some time in the morning session. That's either brilliant captaincy or an oversight !
The follow on was mandatory really , after all that lost time and the man has bowled 2 overs without reward  yet.  If I was the captain I'd tell the rest to bowl wide dross and let Murali get the three he needs. Then again , a final 10 wicket haul wouldn't look too bad either !

following on IND end the day 5 wickets down and still some 60 runs behind... very very difficult to save this now despite one full day washed out and even on other days there has been time lost! Very poor showing by the No.1 test team in the world.

Credit to SLN though, and Murali you need not retire at all... the way he is bowling he can continue for another 4 years!!!

This should underline how good the usual Indian bowling line was and its importance in winning the test matches and becoming nubmer #1.

Huge task ahead of Dhoni and Lax to save the match,They got to play atleast 2 full session and score atleast 100 runs per session.

Australia and India crumbling at the moment, two of the better sides in the world not able to get their batting sorted out. Bit of a shame for the fans.
Ideal cricketer: Bowl like Warne, bat like Tendulkar, field like Jonty!!

Maybe for their supporters Milky , but it's encouraging for the rest of us!   Just one more wicket for Murali and only 3 wickets left for India. They'd better start bowling wide at the other end to let the little man finish it !

What a climax !!  Murali takes the last wicket of the Indian innings to finish his test career with a mind blowing 800 wickets !!!  Many congratulations to the little man , who was chaired off the field by his teammates.
Just the small matter of knocking off the 95 runs to win the game now.......maybe Murali should be sent in first !!

True zuhair and when they win it'll make it even more memorable. Just another 32 runs to get and the weather holding fair.  It'd be great to see Murali coming in with 6 needed to win and Tendulkar bowling a legside full toss for him to plant into the stand !

Congratulations to Sri Lanka on completing a thumping win and many many congratulations to the champion Murali! No praise is big enough to describe his achievements.

India have a few worries and really I don't think they have done enough yet to be the no 1 test team!

Yes and plus their batting is not that strong with Yuvraj and Dhoni in the side. This match proofs that India cant stay no.1 for long with this bowling lineup. Someone might do suicide with Pakistan doing so well and his fav team losing so badly.

Wow what a match , a Murali gets a dream last match with perfect 800.

Mithun has been impressive in his debut , Ishant will hold his place. Ojha would surely have to make way for Mishra but he too hasn't been that impressive off late. There is no room playing a partially fit player, however as there is time for second test  I would suggest they play R Ashwin (withdraw Bhajji if unfit) and other spinner in Mishra.

The same bowling attack will shortly take 40 wickets in next two test matches to and win the series.

Our bench strength lacks quality and that is a big worry for us. Its never easy to fill up the big boots but Australia's 'inexperienced' new ball attack is doing really well and we need to learn something from them.

Every now and again we have a bowler coming up and being termed as the next big thing. He bowls fast for a year or so and then becomes a medium pacer. Its not that we don't ahve the talent, its just that our bowlers have not lived up to their potentials. If you look at players like RP Singh, Munaf, Sreesanth, Irfan etc. they all had the potential or have the potential but they have not lived upto it.

Mithun was quite impressive on his debut and I hope he lives upto our expectations. Its too early too jump to conclusions though but I think India don't deserve to be the no 1 team!
