With the World Cup finishing, it's time to move to the Test championship, season two starting on Monday. Here is a rundown of the new rules:
A recap: FIRST DIVISION: South Africa (the bird), India (w3lshrugby), New Zealand (black_cap_95), England (Sledger), Australia (ramzi), Sri Lanka (warnester), West Indies (minimurali) and Bangladesh (VACANT) SECOND DIVISION: Pakistan (ANIL KUMBLE), France (JP), England A (Clobber), Zimbabwe (pakistani_pride), Australia A (moongoat) and South Africa A (Titan) I am accepting squads as of now - remember that they are to last the whole season, and must include 2 wicket keepers. There is a vacancy at Bangladesh, anyone interested, let me know - and two spaces in Division for other A/B teams/minnows. |

And the long awaited fixture list is now out. South Africa start their title defence hosting England, Bangladesh start off their First Division campaign hosting neighbours Sri Lanka. Some other big series to look out for include the Ashes in England, in week 2, South Africa v Australia in the last week and Australia v New Zealand in week 3. I'll add the second division fixtures in when I'm sure of who is participating. Week 1: WIN v AUS, BAN v SRI, RSA v ENG, NZL v IND Week 2: NZL v RSA, ENG v AUS, SRI v IND, WIN v BAN Week 3: AUS v NZL, IND v BAN, ENG v WIN, SRI v RSA Week 4: ENG v NZL, WIN v IND, BAN v RSA, AUS v SRI Week 5: IND v RSA, NZL v WIN, SRI v ENG, AUS v BAN Week 6: BAN v ENG, NZL v SRI, AUS v IND, WIN v RSA Week 7: SRI v WIN, RSA v AUS, NZL v BAN, IND v ENG |

The Bird was at a loss for words when asked about the England Team . . . He did have a few things to say
Is there trouble in the English camp? Is Sledgers job still in jepordy - after his shocking first series? Is Mr Vaughan still captain? Sore Knee, No Runs Is Harmy going to miss his Mommy again? Are Pietersen & Freddy on the Booze again? Do they have a spinner? Giles injured again or just can't bowl anymore. The England A manager must be pulling out his hair, not able to pick his squad because of Sledger dragging his heels over his selections. We will have to wait and see . . . South Africa are ready for the onslaught Edited by the bird |

Another shabby surface huh Haydn!!! I think I'll draft a letter to the ICC - the state of tracks in SA is diabolical!!
The England XVIII is as follows :- 1) M.Vaughan (capt) 2) M.Trescothick 3) A.Strauss 4) A.Cook 5) I.Bell 6) K.Pietersen 7) A.Flintoff 8) C.Read 9) G.Jones 10) A.Giles 11) I.Blackwell 12) S.Jones 13) S.Harmison 14) J.Anderson 15) L.Plunkett 16) O.Shah 17) M.Butcher 18) M.Hoggard The XI for the 1st Test at the Centurion Park Cabbage Patch is :- 1) M.Trescothick 2) A.Strauss 3) I.Bell 4) M.Vaughan (capt) 5) K.Pietersen 6) A.Flintoff 7) G.Jones (wkt) 8) A.Giles 9) M.Hoggard 10) S.Jones 11) S.Harmison Matt Prior misses out and Geraint Jones is brought back - a tough decision by the selectors. Monty Panesar also left out and Tubbs Blackwell is brought into the squad on the back of some promising batting displays. Edited by Sledger |

Sledger talks to Michael Atherton ahead of the 1st Test.
Morning Sledger , pleased to be back in South Africa? Hi Mike , yeah , it's always a great place to visit , pity about the locals though! Your mate Bird had some scathing things to say earlier today , did you catch any of it? Naw , I've heard it all before. He mention about my sacking again? Well he did say he was surprised that you , Vaughan and Giles boarded the plane. Typical!! He wins one World Championship and he thinks he's golden b*llocks! It'll be different this season , it'll not just be us that'll give 'em a hiding. The Aussies , Indians and Kiwis are all chomping at the bit too. That's as maybe , but 1st up it's England at Centurion , any surprises? Well I looked at the "pitch" and after 20 minutes we still didn't have a clue where it was! There is a bit of grass on it isn't there. A bit!! Blimey , it needs a herd of friesians to get that ready for 10.30 on Monday! I suppose they're playing to their strengths , their spinners aren't up to much. Dead right , but they could still prepare a track that'll last 4 days! So who's playing? No real surprises except Geraint takes the gloves and the skipper bats at 4 with Belly pushing up to 3. How's his knee ? Belly's is perfect , the skippers is dodgy! Should he be here? He'll need a few jabs , but he'll be fine and I fancy some big scores off the lad in this series. The South Africans have Kallis back and van Jaarsveld is in at 3. David Terbrugge joins the pace attack too , is that surprising? Kallis is the key to beating them - get him early and we're almost through them. Smith is in poor form and I fancy Hoggy will sort him out pronto! Terbrugge is solid and his job will be to stem the flow of runs - it won't work and we'll win in 3 and a half days. Surely the toss will be crucial. With that track ? Won't matter , our attack is better than theirs and the batting is about the same. I fully expect a series win here before we take on the Aussies back home. Good to see you're confident Sledger and we'll see you here on Monday morning. Thanks Mike , I'm off to find Bird now - he still owes me money from the last series!! Edited by Sledger |

Titan a marvelous idea for the 2 South African teams to a a warm up match. If the ICC (JP) says its okay, then my team is the same as for the first test vs England.

That's a pity. I saw him destroy Sri Lanka at Newlands on a beautiful batting pitch - he really had them jumping! It's funny , some quicks are hardly ever injured and some are hardly ever fit. Ngam seems to be another unlucky one , a bit like Brett Shultz. |

The England A squad is set to raise a few eyebrows with coach Clobber
having scoured the country's talent...and not especially liking what he
saw. Did this play a part in recalling the veteran Graham Thorpe out of
retirement?
"Actually not at all" explained Clobber "Basically, I read his book and didn't think he went on enough about his divorce in it so would relish the opportunity to hear him banging on about it 6 hours a day in the dressing rooms". Another old stager is Darren Gough - "a nice quiet, modest lad" according to the coach - who will be champing at the bit as ever to prove his detractors wrong. "I should mention that the likes of Hick and Ramprakash received serious consideration but missed out due to poor Test records and the fact we wanted the average age of the squad to be under 65" However the real controversy will come with the selection of Stuart Law. "It isn't controversial in the slightest - he's completed his qualification period and is now a fair dinkum Englishman so he is in" 1. Will Jefferson 2. Matt Prior 3. Stuart Law 4. Ed Joyce 5. Graham Thorpe 6. Robert Key 7. Paul Collingwood 8. Anthony McGrath 9. Rikki Clarke 10. Alex Loudon 11. Stephen Adshead 12. Mark Ealham 13. Glenn Chapple 14. Jon Lewis 15. Kabir Ali 16. Monty Panesar 17. Chris Tremlett 18. Darren Gough Edited by Clobber |

Stuart Law has played a test match for Australia and therefore according to ICC regulations won't be able to play for Eng "A".

Stuart Law is eligible as he has recently become English. He may have played for the Aussies in the past, but he hasn't in this sim. Ed Joyce, however, has played for Ireland in season 1, so I'm afraid you'll have to pick someone else Clobber. |
