Well, this is a bit poor, isn't it? No sign of an England or Bangladesh XI. I'll be running the games a bit later, hopefully giving those of you who haven't already the chance to name a team.

No worries miniwarney. I'm still inputting the data, so it might be an hour or so before the scores are up. |

The World Cup finally got underway, and despite the absence of some notable stars, the show must go on. Group A: Australia 164-2 (Gilchrist 66, Katich 61) beat Scotland 163-8 by 8 wickets South Africa 298-6 (Prince 61, Dippenaar 50) beat Netherlands 233-9 by 65 runs Comprehensive victories for the big guns in group A, neither were ever challenged. Group B: Sri Lanka 173-5 (Jayasuriya 69) beat Bermuda 172-8 by 5 wickets India 193-3 (Dravid 74*, Tendulkar 53) beat Bangladesh 192-9 by 9 wickets Sri Lanka coasted past Bermuda although a late wobble was a small worry. Bangladesh were hugely disappointing and posed no threat for a confident India team. Group C: Kenya 100-1 (Modi 53*) beat Canada 99 (Sheikh 5-19) by 8 wickets New Zealand 207-4 (Astle 101*) beat England 206-6 (Pietersen 54, Cairns 4-31) by 6 wickets An abject batting display by Canada gifted a win to Kenya, before England struggled with the bat before a fine century from Astle finished them off. Group D: Pakistan 216-8 (M Yousuf 114) beat West Indies 150 (Shoaib Akhtar 7-38) by 66 runs Ireland 203-4 (Ed Joyce 73, Morgan 53) beat Zimbabwe 202-9 by 6 wickets. Mohammad Yousuf took the honour of first century of the tournament, and it was some knock, coming after 3 early wickets had been taken but he propelled Pakistan to a decent total before Shoaib Akhtar took 7 wickets to embarrass the West Indies in front of their home crowd. Anyone fancy taking over South Africa/Zimbabwe/Ireland/Netherlands/Canada/Kenya? |

Certainly was Clobber. Injuries for tomorrows games: Mohammad Yousuf (Pakistan) Andrew Hall (South Africa) Dwayne Smith (West Indies) Abdur Razzak (Bangladesh) Teams to be named at your convenience. I'll probably run the games at around the same time, so you have just under 24 hours to get yourselves sorted. |

Minimurali, no you can't change, I'm afraid. If anyone else who hasn't already got a team wants to, they can take charge.

Same team for NZ tomorrow please,JP!
I don't think anybody want the South-Africans, I don't even want to be associated with that bunch, they are a disgrace to South-Africa. |

Sorry ramzi, you were just too late with that, I've just finished running the games - my fault as I said I'd be doing them later. It didn't make too much difference though... Group A: Australia 69-1 beat The Netherlands 67 all out (Lee 5-25) by 9 wickets South Africa 167-4 (Smith 72) beat Scotland 166 all out (Smith 50, Langeveldt 4-36) by 6 wickets Comprehensive victories for the main contenders, Lee blew away the dutch before the Scots offered a bit more fight against the South Africans. All rests on tomorrows clash of the Southern hemisphere titans. Group B: India 311-3 (Dravid 132*, Laxman 69*) beat Bermuda 182-9 (Leverock 59*, Pathan 3-36) by 129 runs Sri Lanka 195-5 beat Bangladesh 194-9 (Nafees 47, Bandara 3-23) by 5 wickets India were comfortable winners, really accelerating past 300 and then Sri Lanka again wobbled but overcame Bangladesh fairly comfortably. Group C: England 151-3 (Pietersen 54*) beat Canada 149 all out (Anderson 6-28) by 7 wickets New Zealand 201-6 (McCullum 58*) beat Kenya 198-8 (Cairns 3-40) by 4 wickets Englands victory was as comfortable as they come, Anderson producing a fine opening spell. Kenya, however, almost beat New Zealand before the Kiwis made it home with 2 balls to spare. Group D: Pakistan 169-3 (Anwar 100) beat Ireland 166 all out (Ed Joyce 56, Akhtar 4-31) by 7 wickets West Indies 297-4 (Gayle 98, Sarwan 81, Lara 71*) beat Zimbabwe 154 all out (Gayle 4-30, Collymore 3-27) by 143 runs Saaed Anwar scored his 100 from 77 balls which left Ireland in disarray after some early breakthroughs. West Indies found their form against a hapless Zimbabwe, Gayle just missing a century before returnee Collymore helped himself to some wickets. TABLES: A: Australia, South Africa 6, Netherlands, Scotland 0 B: India, Sri Lanka 6, Bermuda, Bangladesh 0 C: New Zealand 6, England, Kenya 3, Canada 0 D: Pakistan 6, West Indies, Ireland 3, Zimbabwe 0 (win = 3 points, tie = 1) EDIT: Forgot to upload scorecards. Very nice Mahrukh. Not what this is about though. Go read the first page, and if you want to get involved, South Africa is available as well as Ireland, Bermuda, Zimbabwe, Canada and Kenya.

This next game is our final to all intents and purposes so I will need to think carefully about my misfiring top order batting.
