Looks like theres 2 or 3 teams who are 1 or 2 good players short of having an excellent team, this is shaping up to be a very good sim.

Sourav Ganguly
David Hussey
Luke Wright
Gautam Gambhir
Daniel Vettori
Shoaib Malik
AB de Villiers
Chaminda Vaas
Brendan Nash
Mashrafe Mortaza
Rahul Dravid
Alastair Cook
Laxmi Ratan Shukla
Ranadeb Bose
James Franklin
Wriddhiman Saha

Not a bad side that. I am pretty happy with that. I probably lack an express pace bowler but Vaas, Bose and Franklin all top-class swing bowlers.

I think mines is quite a balanced team maybe a wee bit lacking in bowling but with people like Arafat who averages under 25 i am sure  it cant be that bad plus i have 3 all rounders

And you got Imran Tahir as well (Damn you!! %20%20%20) which is a very good piece of business. I had a bid on him as well and I'm gutted not to get him, but that's the way things go I guess.

Batsmen

Andrew Puttick (SA) (LHB)

Heino Kuhn (SA) (RHB, WK)

Michael Carberry (ENG) (LHB)

Ajinkya Rahane (IND) (RHB)
Ross Taylor (NZ) (RHB)

Jacques Rudolph (SA) (LHB)

Malinda Warnapura (SL) (LHB)

Lendl Simmons (WI) (RHB)

Murray Goodwin (ASSOC) (RHB, RWS)

Bowlers

Saqlain Mushtaq (PAK) (RHB, RFS)

Jeetan Patel (NZ) (RHB, RFS)

CJ de Villiers (SA) (RHB, RMF)

David Wiese (SA) (RHB, RMF)

Matthew Hoggard (ICON) (RHB, RFM)
James Hopes (AUS) (RHB, RM)

Tim Bresnan (ENG) (RHB, RMF)

My problem is the lack of variation in the bowling at the moment, which is going to be solved in the next auction.
My team's looking very strong now that I have a keeper in place. Plenty of batting ability, even far down the order with de Villiers, Wiese, Hopes and Bresnan all able to put runs on the board.
The bowling, like I said, is still lacking a bit of variety, like a left arm seamer or spinner. But with that said it's still a strong bowling lineup with some world class seam, swing and spin bowlers.

Now we have 15 players, do we have to keep bidding for squad players JP or can we just keep the money, because I'm happy with my squad now.

For anyone whose interested here it is.

Mark Butcher (I)
Andrew Strauss
Brad Haddin
Ishant Sharma
Chris Martin
Younus Khan
Morne Morkel
Ajantha Mendis
Dwayne Bravo
Mark Ramprakash
Paul Collingwood
Elton Chigumbra
Jon Batty
Chris Jordan
Ian Bell

Slightly worried about the batting and also the backup bowling outside the 1st XI isn't too great either

I'm happy with my team of 16 so far.

Solid players in Chanders, KP, Sehwag, Steyn, Clark.

Got two spin options in Kaneria and Kartik.  Got an all rounder in Sammy and Wkt Keeper/bat in Prasanna Jayawardena.  Got two other pacers in Bennett and Mills.  Samaraweera should hold my lower order together like I have many opening options - too much as well but the battle of the number 3 will be between them as well.

Grant Flower however should come in handy with some left arm tweakers.

FINAL AUCTION RESULTS:

Melbourne picked up Yashpal Singh (3.7m), Dirk Nannes (2.5m), and Wayne Parnell (2.2m). They have one squad space remaining and £18.9m

Hyderabad picked up Ray Price (3m) and have no squad spaces left and £1.6m

W. Yorks picked up David Wainwright (3m) and have a full squad with £24.2m left over

Blackpool picked up Sajid Mahmood (3m) and have 3 spare spaces with £17.1m

If anybody else wants more players, just PM me with bids and you'll probably get your men. If you want to do any transfers with other managers, then you are free to do so ahead of the first matches which I hope can begin on Wednesday/Thursday.

Remember, press releases and things earn you bigger crowds and more money ;-)

And, here's some pointers ahead of you picking your teams with the sim I'm using:

1) Pitch and ground conditions - home side will be able to choose the state of the pitch (5 options, ranging from excellent to green), the bounce (again, 5 settings from very high to very low), how fast the outfield is (very fast to heavy).

2) Ability to choose what you want to do if you win the toss

3) Each player can be told how aggressively to play from 1-10 - defaults to 5

4) Night-watchman are automatically sent in when the situation requires it

5) Form is a factor, as is player morale. More to think about before selecting your team.

Press Release:

As manger Rhodes is off on his holidays for a week in the faraway land of BoardingSchool he has sent his team to -JP- and is hoping for a victory immediately with Blackpool, hopefully they wont follow in their football teams footsteps where they never seem to win at all, a rather aggresive bowling attack at possibly 7 (hint JP) is raring to go at whoever the opposition is, whilst the batsman shall be playing at a rather neutral standard, if at home blackpool are going to go for a lightning outfield and a batsman/fast bowlers paradise of a pitch, the opposition should be quaking in their spikes....

The Blackpool team shall be:

How
Tendulkar(*)
Yousuf
Ashraful
Symonds
Boucher(+)
Flintoff
Lee
Benn
Harmison
Anderson

A good line up, surely?

Lee is relishing his prospect of a doublehundred in his nigh****chman role, as they are batting first if they win the toss (hint) there should be plenty of time if Ashraful should sit on his wicket tired at 5:30 pm

Old Trafford is doing well according to groundsman Alex Ferguson, who sadly suffered a jaw injury due to Wriglets Extra gum...

Anyway Blackpool are now ready for action, apart from Saj Mahmood who answered the phone drunk last night in bed with two hookers, gratefully he was so out of his mind he agreed to play for us on minimal wage.

Press Release

Caribbean Bashers manager Spin Wizard is currently enjoying a pre season camp with his players.  They're off in the majestic Island of Barbados which he identified as "the perfect spot for a camp".  "It's just great, after training, the lads can go to the beach and relax, as the hotel is just right there, so, while the training might be tough, it's a super place to relax".  "I'm expecting this lot to do very well, with the fiery Dale Steyn leading the pace attack and backed up by the super accurate Stuart Clark.  The batting fire power is good and Sehwag and KP should have bowlers quivering - it's a pretty good team, very happy with it at the moment."

When asked about how his lads are prepared for local conditions, he seemed very upbeat.  "Barbados is a superb cricket wicket.  The guys over at Jamaica say they're going back to the traditional quick and bouncy ground and most of the players we have can play on those surface.  We've got good batters of pace and spin so i'm not concerned about the conditions or opposition."

Wildcats Ready to Pounce

After a battling time in the Auctions, the West Yorkshire Wildcats squad of 20 players has been assembled and trained together for the first time as a 20 man squad today at Headingley. I was let in to observe this training session to see how the side looks and to be in the know about the side.

The side is looking very strong in the batting department featuring some up and coming batsmen, as well as some experienced campaigners:

Batsmen

Ajinkya Rahane (IND)

Ross Taylor (NZ)

Jacques Rudolph (SA)

Malinda Warnapura (SL)

Lendl Simmons (WI)

Murray Goodwin (ASSOC)

Andrew Puttick (SA)

Heino Kuhn (SA)

Michael Carberry (ENG)

Imraan Khan (SA)

Matthew Harris (SA)

International experience is given by Jacques Rudolph, a local hero due to his exploits with Yorkshire, Ross Taylor of New Zealand, and Murray Goodwin formerly of Zimbabwe.

With them are some extremely promising young talents like 20 year old Ajinkya Rahane, one of only 11 men to ever hit 1000 runs in a season in the Ranji Trophy.

To go with them there's a very imposing bowling department, containing some fantastic talents and some world class bowlers:

Bowlers

Matthew Hoggard (ICON)

James Hopes (AUS)

Tim Bresnan (ENG)

Saqlain Mushtaq (PAK)

Jeetan Patel (NZ)

CJ de Villiers (SA)

David Wiese (SA)

Lonwabo Tsotsobe (SA)

David Wainwright (ENG)

There's no extreme pace in the seam contingent but it has a variety of swing, seam and bounce which will have batsmen in trouble on most surfaces. Left Arm seamer Lonwabo Tsotsobe adds an extra dimension to the seam with a change of angle that batsmen may not have much time to get used to.

To go with the 6 seamers, there's also 3 spinners with the Former Pakistan International Saqlain Mushtaq leading the spin contingent in terms of experience.

A fellow Off Spinner and a New Zealand International, Jeetan Patel has impressed with his mental toughness and his accuracy with the ball, combined with his reliable fielding skills, and earned a place in this squad.

Accompanying these 2 and giving a change of angle and turn is 23 year old Yorkshireman David Wainwright. He's somewhat of an unknown to many as he's only played a handful of First Class matches for Yorkshire but has shown undoubted talent with bat and ball in those matches, and in the shorter form of the game.

It seems that the Wildcats have a definite plan in mind when it comes to their home matches. Asking manager Tyke about the pitch preparation, he smiled and said:

"I don't think it matters what pitch we play on as we have players to suit all pitches, but whoever comes here will not only have to worry about the pitch, but the weather conditions. We have plans for the pitch but want to keep those under wraps for now. Let the opposition sweat about the choice of pitch."

I asked him about the balance of the side, and in particular, the nationalities of the side.

"I think the balance of the side is one which suits us just fine. Having 11 batsmen and 9 bowlers gives us choices in the batting and bowling departments. We have 2 keeper batsmen too, 3 if you count Boom, which even gives us flexibility in that position."

"We have a core of 8 South African players, which has worked in our favour so far. The South African guys are used to playing with players that speak in many different languages so they've kind of helped to settle all the players into the thought and lifestyle of that predicament."

It certainly looks like a side capable of winning the league and judging from how the players were bonding together and training, they believe it too.

KnightRiders ready to face the challenge

The Kolkata KnightRiders are ready to face the challenge. The team manager, dips_december is confident about his teams success and has promised that his team will put up a stiff challenge against the other teams.

He was quoted saying, " If you look at our team you will see it's got a nice blend of youth and experience. We have the firepower and strong leaders in Ganguly and Dravid who will certainly take up the responsibility of getting the team going. We all know the success team India have had when Sourav was captain and Dravid was his deputy. We are all hopeful that it will be pretty much the same here."

On being asked about his teams balance and composition he said, "We have got some big names and some not so big names. It will a tough ask but we are upto it. The not so big names will have to prove their credentials and the big names know what it is like to maintain their status and will be hungry to score runs and wickets. We have experience in players like Dada, Jammy, Dave, Vaasy and Vettori. There is also a wealth of domestic experience in the likes of Bose and Shukla who are crowd favourites. Players like Malik and de Villiers just make the team all the more exciting. There are a number of all-rounders who are a boost to any team. So we are pretty confident about our success."

He also said that the Eden Gardens bing their home ground will be a huge bonus. He said, "You know how crazy the people of Kolkata are for cricket. Hundred thousand people coming to watch these matches will not only be a big boost for us but also for the the team as they will feel confident when they see so much support. The atmosphere will just be awesome."

He signed off by saying, "I just can't wait for the matches to start. Good Luck to the other teams."

Here is the full KKR squad :

Rahul Dravid (vc)
Gautam Gambhir
Alastair Cook
Wasim Jaffer

Press Release:

The manager of the Melbourne franchise,The 'Melbourne Masters',Millionare Bladescape has taken a look at his team so far and this is what he had to say:

After taking a look I can definatly say I've managed to put together a very good looking team.
I've currently put together a team sheet which looks kinda like this:

Batsman:
Hughes(Aus)
G.Smith(SA)
F.Alam(Pak)
Joyce(Eng)
Badrinath(Ind)
Thornley(Aus)
Yashpal Singh(Ind)
Rohrer(Aus)

Allrounders:
North(Aus)
W.Hinds(WI)
Rashid(Eng)

Keepers:
Taibu(Zim)

Bowlers:
Mishra(Ind)
Siddle(Aus)
Southee(NZ)
Muralidaran(SL)
Bracken(Aus)
Nannes(Aus)
Parnell(SA)

Now this shows that we have a very strong batting line up lead by Greame Smith from South Africa.
To join him are Fawad Alam and Phil Hughes who both have a stellar FC record.
Ed Joyce,Dominic Thornley,Yashpal Singh and that Badrinath fellow who I can never remember the first name of are the back ups to Alam,Hughes and Smith with an up and coming future star in Rohrer!

To add a bit of spice to the batting we have Marcus North who is a class batsman with some useful OffBreaks,Wavell Hinds who hails from the Windies and is a more then useful batsman who bowls part-time rightarm Mediums and Rashid who is the most allround player we have in this team,he also allows some veriation with the bowling attack.
I've had to settle for Taibu as the only full on keeper as all the other class keepers were snapped up by the other franchises.

The bowling attack I'm proud of,with class spinners in Mishra and Muralidaran.
Siddle is pace and bounce with Southee pulling the swing.(hopefully)
Then to complete a very allround bowling attack we have the leftarm pace trio of Bracken,Nannes and Parnell.
Bracken will be struting his cutters and seamers while Nannes and Parnell put the pace into it.
Overall I think all the teams turned out well but we have a good chance of winning the trophy that is as of yet unnamed!

He then left to start the first training session with the current squad of 19.
You know, I'm trying to decide whether to change my siggy or not...

Canterbury Crushers Ready To Rock

Reclusive socialite, and self labeled Professor of cricket NZF, today revealed his full (but not finalised) squad at the uniform unveiling today. The team modeled the new, back-to-tradition Red and Black uniform and compression garments, made of state of the art fabrics that have spent months in research, development and production. When questioned about his squad, he stated that he is ecstatic with the team he has assembled and expects nothing less than to win. When Queried about the Mendis threat, and his players almost complete lack of experience against him NZF said his team has already spent hours analysing his (Mendis') action and his variations. He went on to say they have done the same for Muralitharin. When asked to comment on who he thinks his biggest rival will be, he named Freuchie and Blackpool as his nearest rivals, paying particular attention to Blackpool saying "Any team that contains both Tendulker and Flintoff is one to take notice of". NZF closed the big uniform reveal by saying that he has not ruled out adding further players to the team within 48 hours.

I'll be drawing up the fixture list later on today, as well as revealing the points system, finalising everybody's squads and working out prize money for finishing positions.

Great work with the press releases.

Press Release:

Mystery the manager of Perth Giants is very confident that his team has a great chance of winning the trophy becuz of the balance of the side, this team is really well balance. In the batting department there are very good young batsmen like Guptill and Pomersbach and experiences ones like Hussey, Jayasuriya and Gayle. Bowling is also very strong in which there are very good fast bowlers like Malinga, Shoaib Akhtar, M Johnson and some medium pacers who are very young like Hazlewood and Jeremy Smith and some experience ones like Pathan and Morkel and in the spin there is Ojha who is very talented and the most important thing of this team is that most of the players can bat and bowl which gives us a excellent chance of winning hopefully we will win it. He then left.

Victors keen to start their Victory march

sam_ahmed, the manager of Hyderabad Victors team looked confident of his team's chances ahead of the season. In his brief interview he has been quoted as saying "Ours is a team full of internationals, that just goes to show the amount of talent this team possesses, we don't have big names like KP, sachin, yousuf or kallis, but what we do have is a great combination of youth and experience combined with variety that can challenge any team. we are not relying on any one person to win games for us but we are looking for a team effort and that is what the stress is on in the training camp. Hopefully, God willing, our team will be able to live up to the expectations and perform like true champions. Hyderabad is a lively city and I can assure my fellow hyderabadis that Hyderabad victors certainly won't emulate the Deccan Chargers!Wink"

The team has started their training camp at Rajiv Gandhi international stadium in Hyderabad. Mahela Jayawardene has been appointed as the captain of the team while Hashim Amla is his deputy.
