County Sim on extended break until I've got less work and more free time. When I have a specific date, I'll post it in the thread.

We entertain Glamorgan starting tomorrow. Darren Robinson is out
injured so John Sadler will come in for him with Maunders moving up to
open alongside Maddy.
Stuart Broad is also back after his superb performance for England A meaning either Cummings or Henderson (who both were excellent in the victory over Essex) will miss out. |

Stuart Broad really looks the business Clobs , how long do you think you'll be able to hold onto him at Leicester?
I'd be disappointed if they drop Henderson , I saw a lot of him here in Cape Town. He's another who slipped the net after more bungling by the SA selectors. He was far and away the most penetrative slow bowler in SA , his height bringing him nice bounce on the hard wickets here. Boye always seemed ahead of him and that probably goes back to the Cronje days , they both played for Free State. |

Claude would be unlucky to be dropped after taking 5 in the second
innings against Essex so Cummings would be the likelier to stand down.
That said it's a drab overcast day here made for seam bowling.
I'm hopeful Broad will be around a while yet but I guess one can never tell - in fact it wouldn't be too great a surprise if he's on a central contract anyway in a couple of years. But this is his first full season of first team cricket so he needs to get the balance between sending down some overs to develop his repertoire and strength, and being rested regularly (he's filled out a bit over the winter but is still amazingly skinny), and thankfully Tim Boon seems very aware of looking after him and ensuring he isn't flogged into the ground. I'm pleased to see Henderson taking wickets so early in the season , it augurs well for the rest of the summer.
Tim Boon's got his head on the right way and I'm sure he'll look after the lad. I hope he stays at Leicester and doesn't get his head turned by the big boys. Stability is the best way of bringing youngsters on , but you could import some good Lancashire pies to fill him out! Edited by Sledger |

Leics 195 for 3, Mongia 74 not out - I'm off up to Grace Road to see if
I can break my hoodoo of never yet having seen a Foxes player make a
ton!!

The jinx is broken!!
It was nice for once to watch our batsmen making light work of the bowling, particularly Mongia who was making it all look incredibly easy as he cruised to 142* overnight in an unbroken stand of 155 with a John Stadler, who had been understandably more cautious ekeing out 47* |

For the second game in a row we have enforced the follow on, and
Glamorgan still trail by 191 runs with 9 wickets in hand. Leics will be
glad that they opted for Henderson as he bagged 4 first innings wickets
and was brought into the fray very early in the second so he will be
the key man in our fight for victory tomorrow.
One interesting side note was that Robert Croft was last man out in Glamorgan's first innings and decide to open in the second. He was then out second ball meaning he'd been dismissed twice in the space of 3 successive balls! |

It was a deplorable batting performance by Leicestershire today. A
hugely weakened side was deprived of Broad, Asif, Robinson, Ackerman
and Snape due to illness and injury, but that was no excuse.
Aside from Masters the bowlers were all excellent in restricting Worcs to 191, an innings held together by Ben Smith and give a final push by Roger Sillence. Alamgir Sheriyar making his first appearance in his second spell for the club was the pick with 3 for 35. The Leics innings went wrong almost straight away when John Maunders was run out off the second ball of the innings - going for a fourth run! Absolute madness and the way both he and Darren Maddy sank to their knees indicated they knew how much of a howler they had committed. Maddy then appeared confused how best to make amends and nibbled at one whilst New and Sadler were out to appalling shots. Stand in skipper Mongia at least got a decent one from Zaheer whilst Allenby was unfortunate to be on the wrong end of an absolute snorter from Sillence. With humiliation beckoning Paul Nixon put together a hugely gutsy half century, including two memorable reverse swept sixes in one Price over before he became the last man to go. |
