Dinesh Mongia is returning to Leicestershire next season. He hopes a consistent performance for The Foxes will help get him back into the Indian one day setup - a tough call whilst Dhoni is creating havoc!! Mongia averaged just over 40 in 2005 accumalating 684 runs - no mean feat that. He topscored with 164 against Durham in the championship and a 92 in beating Sussex in a Totesport League win.
The Foxes have also signed the young Pakistani quick bowler , Mohammad Asif , hoping he'll bring some much needed firepower to their weak attack. |

I'm not overly thrilled with Leicester's off-season comings and goings.
They should have kept one of Dagnall and Brignull and not been so
intransigent with Otis Gibson who will be a huge loss to the club. That
way there would have been plenty in the seam bowling dept (Broad &
Cummins will play a lot more this season) and they could have signed
two overseas batsmen for the new season which would have been better I
feel.
Mongia has talent for sure but was too inconsistent last season - plenty of games he looked like he wasn't at all bothered what was going on. Asif has a lot of potential but I am not convinced the slow Grace Road wicket will suit him greatly. |

I think people get news from the newspaper sites, like this one: There's also the local Cricinfo site: http://www.cricinfo.com/db/NATIONAL/ENG/ and, of course, the CricketWorld equivalent: |

He went to Essex in 2001, but has apparently returned to Leicester - but at 33 I'm not sure if he plays very regularly. |

Aftab is still with Leicestershire. He started off last season in the
team but form then injury saw his miss a big part of the season. He
recovered to make a few runs in the latter part, so hopefully he can
show some good form this year.

Surely Sledger its time that the Foxes changed there county name to the Kolpakshire Kudus. Ha Ha Ha
I must say that I quite like the Foxes, as they have many South Africans playing for them who if I was a SA seletor would br playing in my team |

We're down to 2 South Africans for next season; Ackerman the skipper,
whom by all accounts isn't liked by the rest of the players, and
Henderson who is steady and certainly no worse a bowler than Boje.

Both are from Cape Town Clobber - ex Western Province. Henderson would walk into the SA side just now - his height was a nice advantage on the harder SA wickets and the bounce caused a lot of problems.
I'm very surprised that HD isn't well liked in the dressing room , I've had a few pints with him and can say he's a good lad and funny too! Maybe he's a hard taskmaster - the South Africans take their cricket very seriously and hate losing. Looking at Leicester's results last season , maybe he did boll#ck a few of 'em !

Henderson? Are you talking about Claude Henderson who toured Australia laast time in 2001/02, he was quite useless, Boje was the usccessful one that tour.

More Leicestershire news as this thread threatens to dominate the County secion ;)
"Tim Boon, the England assistant coach, has joined Leicestershire as their new senior coach. Boon, 44, who played for Leicestershire for 15 years and scored more than 11,000 first-class runs, has coached England U19s and England U17s and been a key member of England's management team. "Tim has been a very valuable member of the England management team," Duncan Fletcher, the England coach, told the ECB, "both as assistant coach and also in the analyst role, logging, analysing and presenting footage of the opposition and the England team. "Whilst I will be sorry to see him leave the England camp, I am pleased that he has landed an exciting coaching opportunity with Leicestershire. Tim is an ambitious coach and coaching a county side will be an important part of his coaching development." Hugh Morris, chief executive of the ECB, extended his congratulations: "Tim has made a major contribution to our cricket in his nine years in important coaching roles with ECB. I am delighted that he will be continuing to make an important contribution to domestic cricket in his new role at Leicestershire." In December, James Whitaker left his post as director of
cricket at Leicestershire and Boon's appointment - a new role as senior coach -
was created in order to have "a more hands-on approach in working closely with
all the players." Boon takes up his position in February" Hopefully a good appointment, the players have looked to be lacking a bit of direct guidance last couple of seasons |

go on the official site you can buy a season ticket for all the group

it's a good atmosphere down at the ground too, especially compared to other games when it is
normally pretty empty. Although it brings in its fair share of know
nothing idiots too - like a guy last year sat near me who kept
screaming abuse at the umpires for not calling a wide every time the
ball hit a batsman's pad....

yeah i went to a couple of days of that - although I must say the one
day game was even better - there were more people in and the Aussies
were much more outgoing and willing to meet the crowds at that match
