me personally rate this man as a legend, brilliant batter, now i woz just woundering what are the views on him from other ppl and other ppl around the world, tell me what you think of him and his batting.

I haven't seen many of his games. Ialways thought that he wasn't a good player. From what everyone says, I think he must br really good. Unfortunately, according to me, I feel that many young player like, Clarke, Yuvraj, etc are better than him. That is my opinion. I might be wrong.

He has a slightly dubious technique which is why he doesn't get all the
credit he deserves - but it works for him and that is all that matters.
In the last 12 months he has got two monkeys off his back in that he
proved he could score runs outside of England and proved he could score
runs against Australia. He is a massive part of the England side and I
strongly suspect he would be one of the openers if I were picking a
current World XI

just to let u know marcus trescothick was the 2nd highest run scorer in the ashes and was the most consistant, he beat ponting by about 100 runs thats how gd he is, he doesn't use his feet much but uses his balance and in a way that helps him gauge the line of the delivery and have more time to think. |

He is crucial, he gets england off to good starts in both forms of teh game, he scores at a quick rate without taking to many risks, and he can also play the very long innings, one of the best players off spin in the england team. He seems to have got a good amount of runs at a good average for years now.

England's vice-captain, too so a huge pillar in the team in more ways than just his batting. Probably our best slip fielder, just ahead of Freddie and Strauss, too.

Marcus is a really good player and a major treasue to the English team. The team will definately miss him as a batsman and a fielder since he is not playing cricket right now. Hopefully he will join back the team soon because he is a major part of the team. And plus I guess since Michael has that injury at least Tres should be in the team.

Well that should be good news for England that people are giving such good performances without the captain and the vice-captain being in the team. It is just what the team needs now! Well that and the captain returning.. I have a question with Flintoff as the acting-captain now since neither Tres and Michael are not there who is the vice-captain to Flintoff?

marcus trescothick is really a stalwart 4 england. an integral part of england's resurgance in the international game since his debut in 2000. not the greatest footwork but to hell with that, he gets the job done. trescothinck to me had my vote to be england captain after nasser hussain's resignation, but Vaughan really has taken this team and formed them into his own. Marcus has acted as the man behind the scenes along with Duncan Fletcher.

Trescothick was a major player in the Ashes victory. After the hiding in the 1st Test it all seemed doom and gloom all over again. The word was that Australia would win convincingly and England would freeze in the headlights like so many times previously.
That they didn't had a lot to do with Trescothick's approach. He attacked from the word go at Edgbaston and along with Strauss , Vaughan , Pietersen and Flintoff they really took it to the Aussie attack. Only Warne escaped with credit ,Lee, Gillespie and Kasper took a pounding - so much so that the latter two haven't been seen since. All in all , Tresco is pretty good!!! |

trescothicks, batting is funny, especially his bottom hand. Its like sooo loose, as if hes hanging onto the abt so it wont drop. and yes he plays the straight drives with sooo much control.
is it the heavy bat he uses? or does he just have really huge forearms, like jimmy maher? =P |

I have a lot of time for Trescothick, and feel he is a really good player. When England are playing well, it is normally because he has given them a great platform as an opener. That said, when Tresco is out of form he seems to stay out of form a bit longer than your average person. It is probably down to his technique which he relies on good hands, minimal footwork and a good eye. When things aren't quite going his way though, he can be exposed a little, which is what the Aussies did the time before last. But when he is in form I feel he is crucial to England's chances of winning, and is a key player!

Trescothick is a key part in the England squad, but if the team plays badly, it seems that people place the blame on him. If he plays well, it normally goes unoticed. If he does play well, England nearly always win.

Obviously a good batsman. Not in the same category of classical opening batsman, but it's the fashion now to use attacking batsman to open innings. His mental contions is also quite good, disintegration does not work well with him (Gillespie once did in previous (2001 I think) Ashes by going round the wicket to him and getting him cheaplt in the series). He is the most consisitent English player for a long time before he had this mini slump in his game

A consistent player no doubt Wal, but until he makes a big 1 against Australia i cannot rate him as highly as Strauss or even Haydos (in his glory days) and is probably on Par with Sehwag & G Smith IMO. His distinct lack of footwork somedays lets him down, and tahts always been his trouble against Australia, Mcgrath in particular. No doubt though he is a valuable player in the english side, and when on fire, a stunning batsmen! |

Yes Wal , he can't seem to get a run just now. Practically all batsmen suffer the same fate through their careers (listening KP?) and the best players just work a little harder and get through it.
I've no doubt Trescothick has been grafting hard and is hoping for a turnaround today , but the Rose Bowl must be one of the hardest places for an opener to re-establish himself against a quality attack. For the series , let's hope he gets a big one today , because when he does the side tend to post a good score. It's strange , but I can't ever remember Tres and KP putting together a substantial partnership in ODI's - can anybody put me right on that one? |
