good move there but the tms commentry box rule will coincide with the fred trueman non slinging action. Also the sri lankan world cup squad of 96 decided to challenge the australian team of today with the result of a hybrid of chaminda vaas, nathan bracken and jonathon agnew which creats a fast bowling commentator which means

your propensity for mischief know no bounds and were this not a gentleman's game I would call you for One Short, but on this occasion I shall let that pass.

Upon checking my wrist watch I note it is now Saturday morning and in accordance with the law of response to a play of Ian Botham I must of course respond with;

Boundary Rope

hmmm, an obvious attempt to tie us up in knots using a technique developed by Sir Chunder Muchly back in '23.  It does, however, allow me to invoke the pastafarian clause introduced by that great artisan and cricket watcher John Major through his Back to Basics campaign.  If memory serves me well, Major determined that when confronted with the Boundary Rope one should take a small step to leg, giving enough room to play the >>>

Cover Drive
When you win the toss - bat.
If you are in doubt, think about it - then bat. If you have very big doubts, consult a colleague - then bat.

Good grief !!  Whilst relaxing over a couple of cold ones this weekend , I see the game has lifted to another level entirely.   I have to admit to some serious misgivings in trying to counter such a classical move as the Cover Drive , but respond I will , more in hope than anything else.

   I follow the path of tradition in response to said Cover Drive , with the oldest of repostes..........

ooof and a viciously well directed one as well Sirrah! My technique is all about fighting fire with fire, whilst obviously in this instance maintaining an accord with the Monday Morning Ruling.

Yes, you've guessed it -

  Curses , a devillish move Sir !! I'd appeal against the light if at all possible , but I fear that Summer has finally arrived in ole Blighty!

  But what counters , if any , will be effective. I researched Sobers' Dastardly Defence to the Inverted Minor , but dismissed it as being rather timid.  The way the game is progressing , the intensity is such that I must call upon a strategy unused since Denis Compton signed his Brylcreem Deal.
       With fair confidence and not a little cunning , I give you..........

Pushing the rule book to its limits again I see Sledge, but I recognise this particular manoeuvre as an adaptation of the Nawab of Pataudi theorum that caused so much consternation back in the day.

I fear however that you didn't quite get your leg over and I can repel this comfortably and push the rules a little myself by applying ye olde Chris Tavare Shuffle regulation to my next foray;

  Objection !!!!  Such backbreaking vibes are grossly unfair to an oldie like myself matey!!   Then again , perusing the rules , I see no breach and will just have to get a coconut filled cocktail and get under that damn bar!
       After a seeing to by a former East German Discus Thrower I can now stand upright again and have a potent , if not fatal continuation......
