Well its really a bit of a problem as nearly every club I come up agaist has a fast inswinger. this season i've made 2 ducks then faced a team without one and was retired on 31 (stupid U13 rules) |

Well I open and captain for my club and school So its kinda important I don't always get a duck. Especially as we lack good batsmen in our club team. If you have a high batlift though then I suggest you lower it, that helped me when I was younger |

Try to angle the backswing with the bat, this is something I am working on to help me play straighter. As when I don't do this the bat face closes which makes me hit through covers, mid wicket area instead of through the V.

well i play for sussex under 15s and im mainlly a legspinner but i can certainly bat.try getting your foot to the pith of the ball and use a forward press something the england side use what you do is advance ever so slightly and if its short take a step forward and should be able to pull it.but if its full take a step back and defend or play a cut.also dont play to early but the main main main thing and this is very important and if you do this you will go far keep your head straight and inline with the ball and soon as it pitches then hit i have got mny 6s and 4s by doing this basiclly time the shot i never forget when i was playing someone bowled and perfect length ball i took one step and straight drive for 6x over his head. all because i got my foot to the pitch of the ball and also timed it perfectly remember head straight and foot to th pitch of the ball and you will go far

i agree foot to the pitch of the ball is a must when playing forward and dont let your body fall to the side as you play a drive as this will mean you will miss time the shot.

I think you should angle the bat face towards mid wicket as your playing the drive against an inswinging delivery. Although if you have the bat face closed all the time (like me), you should be able to play the inswinger with ease. |

Not if you know what you're doing. Another way to deal with it is to take guard on leg stump and when the ball is swinging in, you can drive it through the covers, but if it's straying down middle and leg stump, then punch it through the on side. |

Well mate, One cannot identify your problems to the inswingers as we can't see you bat. But of the problems may be that you cannot adjust your self well after the ball has pitched. This is how I deal with inswingers. I wait on the ball and if it coming in to me i will then play the flick shot and thats why I don't get out to them cause I play them late and I have mastered the flick stroke by now so I know i wouldn't get lbw. Overall, try mastering the flick shot and playing the ball a little later and try and adjust your self.
Trust me, this guy is the next punter. He really knows how to bat. His tips are worth it. |

i wouldnt try to flick the ball unless you are very good at it, best to try and play it straight to mid on or midwicket!

I don't know what your usual guard is but mark out leg stump as well when u bat and once u have picked up the inwing open up your stance by putting your front foot on leg. I am a left hander who was always getting caught by the inswingers so i mde this adjustment last year. This way you you are free to bring the bat down to hit through mid on/wicket and if it is on your pads you can hit across the line because you know you won't be out lbw.

i find getting well forward to inswingers helps as you eliminate the risk of being caught of an edge and if you get well forward you cannoy be given out LBW

The reason why I mentioned you angle the bat face towards mid wicket is because it's a little harder for you to edge the ball to the slips area, then it is when you completely open the blade, but if your guard is on leg stump, then you can move across your stumps and play the ball through the cover region.

what i normally do is take leg guard, and wait for the ball to swing, then play the shot, im not an aggresive batsman.. i think you said you have ahigh bat lift, against swing bowling i think a lower bat lift may be most affective. this is what i do have a low bat lift gives you more time to play the shot, however if your aggresive then perhaps stand at leg, but be awear of the away swing. a half decent bowler will work out your batting for the inswing and perhaps push out an outswinger... jus my 2p... |

I find it easy enough as you can pick the line as it is in the air longer than normal. then i just bring my bat down ontop of it and block it out.

to Dips december, i have an idea! it involves a small trigger movement, not one of these ones that supposedly gets you in a good position to play etc, but simply helps with the balance, and as sachin says thats all that matters! i suggest trying moving the back foot back and accross, but make sure that your head doesnt move with it, because then you have much better balance and shouldnt fall toward the off, if you dont know what i mean, many srilankans use this trigger (jayawardene, sangakara etc) i used this trigger for a while and i could play on drives etc with ease! |

expect an inswinger on every ball thrown at you initially, infact expect yorkers, bouncers and out swingers also and you shall be good.
