I know its a bit late but Sachin Tendulkar did in the end make it to 10 000 Test Runs. He made it against Pakistan his arch rivals who he hasn't played much cricket against in his career due to political situations but he got there with a somewhat subdued celebration (which is surprising as the one place in the world you'd expect them to go mad for that sort of stuff is India) but it is still an achievement to be recognised. Congratulations to him. He joins messers Waugh (Steven), Border and fellow countryman Sunil Gavaskar along with Brian Lara who achieved the feat last year. He is also level with Sunil Gavaskar for the all time century record in Test cricket on 34 which he failed to break in the series just gone by with Pakistan.

Great effort by the wee fella and I predict that he'll rewrite the record books for runs scored in both tests and ODI's
Personally I think Sachin is a credit to India and a credit to cricket - a fine , decent , modest man and I'm thrilled that he's achieved a massive cricketing milestone - may he play until he's 50 !!!

Yeah though he has been struggling with injury as of late though with his re-occuring elbow troubles (he got that from Muralitharan ;)) and has now even begun to start taking criticism from his own fans though to be fair his form has dipped a little as of late so some of it is justified i suppose. I think his career is not quite as "perfect" as it used to be anymore.

He already has done it in ODI's and I don't think that it would take him much time to do it in tests also.Over 23,000 international runs!It would onlt take a great man like Sachin to do it.

May he play until he's 50 and may he play as he always does. And also may he reach the 50 century barrier both in tests and one dayers. He is the greatest player India has ever produced and may it stand so.

I know its been a long time but well done to Sachin for completing 10,000 runs in test matches. How fitting that he achieved this milestone against Pakistan. He has been a gret servant to Indian cricket for the last 10-15 years.

Yeah but what are the odds that he would have done it against Pakistan seeingas he's only ever actually played in 3 series against them in 16 years!

sachin has been a great player but dont you think in the last 2 years, sachins form has declined a bit? still congradulations on completing 10 000 runs as well as equalling the record for the most centuries in tests as well as having the most centuties in odi's

sachin is a great cricketer and its true he'll break a lot of records but i hate him cause i'm a pakistani fan so india is our arch rival and i certainly dont hope that he plays until he's 50. but i do respect him its jus that i hate it when he's helping india beat pakistan. he's a great cricketer and he's very amazing and i don think there will ever be anyone like him.

i certainly agree with you vize, sachin has completely lost the touch of the nineties and his batting is declining. his career is coming to a close. he's jus not as good as he use to be.

recently sachin tendulker hasn't been consistent at all so it looks like the sachin tendulker era has finally come to an end.

But its true that if Sachin gets back into form, he will easily score (well maybe not easily but he will) 50 centuries in ODIs and Tests. sachin is a great player and even Donald Bradman said that Sachin Tendulker is his own reincarnation. sounds a bit silly but you guys know what that means. Sachin may not be as good as bradman in terms of averages but sachin has scored more runs than bradman, sachin has scored more centuries than bradman. sachin is truely a great player.

and why do you think that lara is better than tendulker? you should discuss this on the topic called "who's better??? lara or tendulker" in the "general cricket talk section"

Yup, it doesn't help to make general statements kennzo, and if you are going to make comparisons between those players, there is a thread in the general section.

Generally though, this forum was created mainly by, for and at the behest of JALRC as he kept up with so many stats, and I don't think anyone else has the time to do so anymore.

does anyone know why it took sachin longer than lara to achieve 10 000 test runs cause sachins average is higher than laras and he should have achieved the feat earlier. he has also been playing longer than lara, i think, so i don't understand why it took sachin longer to score the runs than lara??!!

Injuries, probably. I can't remember Lara missing many games through injury and it's only recently he's missed games through the contract dispute. That would be my guess anyway.

I've no idea why JP - injuries seem a reasonable guess.

sachin is a really good batsman and having 10k runs at the age of 32 is pretty amazing. is he the captain or is ganguly the captian. because those 2 and maybe dravid are the backbone of india's bating line up! is there anyone else with 10k runs that is still playing.

Lara has 10k, he's not far away from the overall record actually but he's in no form so might take a while to get them.

Tendulker is a great player but he is in poor form right now. I think that if he can get himself back together, and can play for another 5 years, then he might be able to score 45-50 ODI centuries. That would be amazing.

For your information sir, Inzamam and Lara are both older than Sachin, meaning that they will retire before him. So eventually, I believe that Sachin will hold a lot of the batting records...he already holds so many batting records...such as most ODI runs, most ODI centuries, most test centuries (tied with Gavaskar). He will also hold the record for most test runs once Brian Lara is gone.

Dude, you live in India and you don't know it. I live in North America and I know it. I saw it on Star News. They been talking about since Sachin is injured. They say that every day, when they start talking about Sachin's injury or his career.
