probaly because no stores have got them yet. In western australia they are already popular as he sold them to his sponsored players and old freinds, as he was originally west australian.

From the research I have made nad the enquiries I have made he is not in Melbourne but a little place called Shepherds Flat and working near an Australian Willow plantation called Cricket Willow. The Tinetti family run a small willow farm and Julian has joined them in the small town.
Check out www.cricketwillow.com.au No mention of Julian but he relocated there in October last year from what I have been told. Also for a full range of his gear, if you want to see it in the flesh check out Kingsgrove Sports at Kingsgrove Sydney. They have pads, gloves and 2 of the bats. One called Perpetual and the other might be platinum. $400 and $500 respectively. THey look and feel very very good. Massive profile on them. Same as the Puma Tribute. For those that do not know too much about Julian, well his story reads like a book. He Started Millichamp and Hall (look them up, magnificent bats!) and then got into bed with Puma and started podshaving in Perth, Puma I guess took over the whole operation and now he has screaming cat (Cat, puma.. get it!) Thats about all the facts I know. He may not be located at Cricket Willow farm but from what I have researched he is definitely at Shepherds Flat which is about 2 hours I think outside of Melb. Sid |

Sorry,
It was about June he moved to Shepherds Flat. Also to note is that Paul Bradbury learnt the art of podshaving from Julian. Do a Google Australia search for Julian Millichamp Cricket and you will find various articles about his move. I wonder if anyone has compiled a definitive list of bespoke cricket bat makers. There would have to be more than the handful mentioned on this forum for sure. |

They are in athe true hand made style. They look etxtraordinarily meaty and have a nice balanced pick up and light feel for their size.
The willow was excellent on the $500 one and just below excellent for hte $400 one. It seemed the willow to be the only difference cause shape wise both were similar. They have huge swells that run from mid to low and just look sensational. The gloves were $85 Aus and looked good with yellow forefingers on lower fingers, leather palms was the printed style like the top end hunts county stuff. Pads I think were $119 or $129, felt light and had some quality workmanship like any top end pad. For $129 though you can get P2 Obo/Aero pads (moulded foam new design. www.obocricket.com) though which i tried on and was inmpressed with. THe labels looked good and as said before has a "The Milly" sticker at the toe on the back. Blue and yellow and orange with an arched back cat.. hard to describe but looked good in my eye. The Tributes are basically the same shape however I think he may not have made them as I think the Puma bat maker is Sam Miller, will have to check the old catalogues. Perhaps you may see a pic of the tribute on the kingsrgrove or greg chappell cricket centre websites. |

yer cheers again sidman, i have seen pictures of the puma tributes, but unfortunately no side on views, Do you reckon if you lived in aus, in this case 5hours away drive from shepherds flat, that you could have a bat delivered by mail? or can you only get bats by going directly to see him? Also on the $400 aus model bat, was the willow still good, and can you remeber the amount of grains it roughly had? |

Well I saw the bats in the raw at a shop but I would have enough trust in a bat maker like himself and other batmakers like Bradbury to get me what I want.
I do remember one had 14 grains but I do not remember which one. IN terms of the Tributes, I counted one with 22 grains and another with 8-9 grains and another had 10. all beautifully straight and perfect. All bats felt very similar in balance and weighting but no doubt they would play differently though(the tributes). In terms of the Screaming Cat, if you just want the bat its a phone call I would think, but if you wanted to see it being made and have the whole tour, go out and spend a day and perhaps you may be able to book in a time and have him make your bat on the spot, give them a call I guess. Henjam, I supposed you ask the question as you are in England and you are travelling out here for the ashes this Nov/Dec? Perhaps we shoudl start the list of batmakers in aus so our ashes tourists can go around and check them out. |

i would love to go out to aus, but can't because of school etc, as i said before luckily i have overseas players, and current players at our club who go out to a part in victoria called bairnsdale, which is not too far from shepherds flat, are you preety sure julian is located there? m&h did some research for me and they came up with exactly the ame place so i reckon you are probs right. But anyway i could probably try and get them to get me one next season, so if i did get one i would be looking at getting it a year from now most likely. They do sounds very nice though, i would probs get one tweaked a bit with a higher middle though. so you gona buy one then sidman??

Sorry Henjam,
I am very happy with my Bradbury and will continue using it until its dead and then replace it with... another bradbury. At the end of the day a handmade bat beats a machine made one any day. There are plenty of bat makers out there to choose from. |

OK now for the truth, He MAKES his bats at country victoria but gets his wood from england and india (last time i heard he was in india collecting wood for next season). The bats are perfect and there is 6 of them. profesional, state, platnium, grade, perputual and theres 2 more unknown (i know there bat agent so i will find out). The prices range from 400-650$ for a bat. The profesional player is custom made to your weight and you can ask for certain edge thickness and whatever else.
The gloves, pads and even the bag are all quality (the bag has 3 wheels) The gloves and pads are pure leather, very comfortable and light with alot of padding, they are yellow, orange and blue. The shape has a middle, from high to low and is absolutely perfect you wouldnt want to change it. My brother has a profesional player for 470 (tim zoehrer is a freind and we get them cheaper) And this bat is absolutely perfect, picks up sooo light with such a big profile. I use a bradbury sterling 5 star and my brothers screaming cat atm because he doesnt go to school and his lending it to me. These 2 are the best bats of ever used and ive used some really really good bats. |

They are great bats like i have said for ages, They came out august last year. i have been so lucky to live in perth and have met julian and paul and sally personaly before. With your bats you will find the screaming cats don't have as much grains, but they still come off well because his been batmaking for a long time to know which wood is the best. |

Julian Millichamp sent me over 6 of these babies for the WACA western australian cricket season and they by far have the best middles in the game. perfect pick up, great dynamics and perfect weight ratio. I suggest for everyone to get one, however they are pricey on the market! lucky i get mine for free but his bats last for years and they have the best middles. You pay for what you get with a julian millichamp cricket bat. If anyone would like a picture of them, please message me or let me know on the forum |
