Shane Warne is planning to become a non-overseas palyer for Hampshire. His excuse, his mother had lived in germany, and moved over to Australia when he was 4 or 5. So if he sucseeds in getting a German passport Hampshire will have the luxury of another overseas player next year.
But surely this shouldnt be allowed, he is about 95% Aussie. Hes played loads of games for Australia, and while doing so has become the bowler with most test wicets. Personally I dont think he can be classed German having merely spentthe 1st 4 years of his childhood there. He has always thought of himself as Australian, and after the life he's had there, he should be classed as it. Edited by Monty - 17 August 2007 at 6:37pm |

it's called working the system and whilst it is annoying and unfortunate there are plenty of others in the past who have got away with (maybe not to the same extent admittedly)

When you win the toss - bat.
If you are in doubt, think about it - then bat. If you have very big doubts, consult a colleague - then bat. |
