Yes Spinny stay safe and secured plus also we don't have any other Windies member here in this forum to keep us excited so we need you
but anyway on a serious note be safe and hope everything gets normal soon BTW Sam as you might know here atleast in Pakistan/Karachi it hardly rains so we really don't have any that kind of worry.

All is fine now, storm diverted a bit from us, so we only got a bit of rain in the end, and no wind. Nonetheless, storm is heading towards Jamaica and may well be a hurricane when it passes Jamaica, where Windies & New Zealand are currently at.

Big up to the Caribbean athletes in the olympics track and field. Jamaica's men taking full dominance of the sprints, and Grenadian Kirani James dominating the 400. Bahamas may well win the 4 x 400 Metre relay. Caribbean people has always been good at track and field, but years gone by, the opportunity was never there like it is now, hence why plenty of them are emerging now.
Usain Bolt is the king. 4 x 100 Metre relay on saturday is going to be the bomb! |

Usain Bolt is the MAN! What an athlete!? Apparently he bowls really quick as well, Chris Gayle can testify to that! He's 25 now, may he'll switch to his true passion of cricket?
Now that'd be awesome!

In Bolt cricket days, they said his run up was faster than his deliveries.
![]() Apparently, Yohan Blake came out and said he can bowl faster than Zaheer Khan. Cricket is a favourite for many West Indian still, but in my opinion, its one sport that is harder to master than some others. No use gambling with Cricket when you can run at such speeds. Andre Russell is another who is very quick, who knows what he could have been doing on the track had he not been playing cricket. Growing up, there was a guy in my school who use to run about 10.5 seconds for 100 metres, and that's just by doing normal day stuff, no training. Imagine if he was under the kind of training that people go through today for running. The guy was seriously quick, he was on the soccer team, played as a strike, as as you'd expect, beat any defender to the ball. His shooting wasn't too good. He'd easily excel in athletics had it been like today's time. He's just about 26 now, but drank too many beers since he finished school, he got a beer belly. If you want to know what that is, i'm sure Sledger can give better details. ![]() Edited by spin wizard - 10 August 2012 at 6:34am |

Nice to see the banter from Blake and Bolt, all in good humour. If they have the skill set, then their natural athleticism will set them apart from other cricketers. Cricket is more about skill and mental toughness than fitness... just ask Inzamam ul-Haq! Both Blake and Bolt have the discipline, mental toughness and that x-factor about them to be great sportsmen, but their actual cricketing skill-set is an unexplored territory! Anyone can roll their arm over, but do you reckon Bolt could bowl 15 overs in a day? You never know, if the IPL and other T20 leagues continue to expand, then the likes of Bolt and co. could feature. I'd love to see cricket become more globalised and for its appeal to become greater in the Caribbean. Can't think of any better ambassadors than the 2 fastest sprinters on the planet. All these comments by them are great publicity for cricket... heck, our sport might even feature in the next Olympics or in 2020!

Mikey, I think I heard some linkage between Bolt and a big bash side, so you're probably speaking things that some people are already think. Usain Bolt did dismiss Chris Gayle cleaned bowled in a game in Jamaica about 3 years ago I think.
And, the biggest excitement of my day today, the mens 4 x 100 metre relay finals today. USA women cleaned up the track yesterday in superb fashion, today it will be the Jamaican men. USA and T&T also have good sprinting teams but think they'll be able to match the the Jamaicans.

Haven't really been following ICC U19 WC but what a thriller we've had today between Pakistan and India... India edging home by 1 wicket in the end.
one man I am hugely impressed with is Babar Azam (watching him bat today and following his scores through the tournament), this lad has got immense talent and good temperament too, I won't be surprised if he makes it to the national team one day. well played both teams, India held their nerve at the end...

Sad news for sure. Can't forget his 92 WC heroics. People who have seen him play in 80s say he was probably the finest non West Indian batsman going around in the 80s.

Don't know what's going on but now Tony Grieg has been diagnosed with cancer as well, wish Tony all the very best in fighting the illness and may God cure him.
Nice to see some international players touring Pakistan, the world XI games are definitely a boost for Pakistan cricket, hope everything goes well and international cricket returns to this cricket crazy nation soon!

Very said news for Greigy! As a young chap, I used to grow up watching his pitch reports and sticking his car keys in the pitch! Sometimes I used to think he could be quite annoying, but in time I began to appreciate his commentary and you can't deny his utter passion and knowledge of the game. Truly wish him the best and would love to hear him from the commentary box this summer. God bless.
Likewise with Martin Crowe, wish him the best and hope he makes a bouncing recovery. |

Schedule for India v Pakistan series is out, this is going to be a high profile series no matter how short the tour is, one hell of an opportunity for Pakistan to get some wins against India, something that has eluded them in the recent past, for the first time it's not the Pakistani bowling but their batting that I'm looking forward for, Azhar Ali, Nasir Jamshed, Asad Shafiq and Umer Akmal, four very talented players will be playing in the same eleven, should be the start of many matches they'll be playing together, God willing!!!

Very strange indeed, wish Robin all the very best in fighting the disease, may God cure him.
meanwhile the life ban on Mohammed Azharuddin has been lifted by the HC of Andhra Pradesh terming the ban as "illegal" and "unsustainable" wonderful reward for Azhar's patience and perseverance. After going through the agony of losing his younger son last year, this is a much better news for the most successful ODI captain of India. Love you Azza!
