The England squads have been announced.

Test squad Andrew Strauss (capt), James Anderson, Ian Bell, Stuart Broad, Alastair Cook, Paul Collingwood, Steven Davies, Graham Onions, Kevin Pietersen, Liam Plunkett, Matt Prior, Adil Rashid, Ryan Sidebottom, Graeme Swann, Jonathan Trott, Luke Wright

One-day squad Andrew Strauss (capt), James Anderson, Tim Bresnan, Stuart Broad, Paul Collingwood, Alastair Cook, Joe Denly, Sajid Mahmood, Eoin Morgan, Graham Onions, Kevin Pietersen, Matt Prior, Adil Rashid, Graeme Swann, Jonathan Trott, Luke Wright


No Harmison suggests that's it for him internationally. It will be interesting to see how much Plunkett has come on since his last run out with England, whilst the selectors clearly see something in Luke Wright that it is fair to say not many other people see.

Mahmood is one who has always had the potentially to be very very useful, but previously was undone by a total lack of control, and as with Plunkett it is a good idea to get him back into one of the squads for a look.

This should be a good Series - I even think England might do pretty well in the shorter format too!  Pietersen, Collingwood, Morgan makes a good middle order.  It would be interesting to see the make up of their bowling attack in the Tests, SA hasn't been the best team against spin so maybe we might see 3 pacers and the spin duo of Swann and Rashid.

Good to see a proper tour, with warm up matches and a solid 4 tests.
   Plunkett can bat a bit and had a good county season, so there's a good chance he'll play and England will be happy to have more batting reinforcement at the bottom.

I cant't really understand Shah's exclusion from the one day squad. But their test squad looks solid and should be a good contest.

I'm looking forward to this !  The locals are overly confident methinks , I expect England to give them a real go. No out and out speedster in the ranks though and a lot will depend on Anderson , first up. They need a couple early or SA will make some very big totals. Prince will be opening again and as well as he did against the Aussies , I'm not sure he's a natural up there.
        KP can expect a lot of stick again , although not as vicious as he experienced at Bloemfontein last time around.  I'm much happier that the one dayers will be out of the way before the proper stuff starts. Tis a pity that both camps were happy to drop a test for more limited overs stuff though. That leaves just the Ashes as five test series in the whole calendar.

Looking forward for this. Should be a good series. Shah was doing well, strange exclusion that! Good to see Plunket back in the scheme of things, as Sledger had said earlier that he has had a terrific domestic season, so will interesting to see how he goes. Sajid making a comeback is interesting too.
 
Above all great to see one of my favourites Kevin Pietersen back in ENG colours.
God is a better planner... so whenever u'r plan fails, cheer up... God has a better plan for you!

KP's recovery is a huge boost to the whole side and I'm sure he'll respond with plenty of runs. He'll not be here for the T20's , but will get some action in the latter stages of the one dayers.

I agree with JP. 1 great innings in the CT and another decent knock doesn't justify his inclusion. He was rubbish against the Aussie attack, which is comparable to the SA attack, and that was on home soil too.

Well England arrived safely on Sunday morning and the vultures were circling form the off!  Plenty in the local press about the numbers of SA born players in the squad , it's rather tiresome.KP expected sometime next week and then I expect the press will be off again!
      Nice and hot in Bloemfontein and they'll be playing there on Friday.  Always a batting track there , so if they get rolled over cheaply it'll not be a good sign for when the real stuff starts.

That's pretty inevitable Sledger. Even Ramprakash in an interview the other day said it was disappointing to all the English 'educated' players that players like Trott and KP are playing for England.

He had his chances , plenty of 'em , time now to see if Trott has what it takes to solidify England's top order.  They were still flaky against Australia. I'll be watching Cook too , 50's and 60's aren't good enough in the modern game , what with the flat decks.
     I expect KP to shine , but only after finding his feet in the one dayers. It's vital he plays in those five 50 over matches and the two warm up 3 day games.

It is going to be a ripper of a series - cant wait.

Cook has to step up now. As Sledge pointed out he is just making average scores and of late has played pretty much on reputation or the lack of openers in England or both.

Will SAF play a spinner? Have they found one yet? Dont think they will be keen to play VDM for test matches.

Ramprakash was given too many chances. He was too mentally fragile, maybe now he's ready, but now he's 40 and that's 15 years too late I'm afraid.
     It will be interesting to see the reception of those 2 in particular (Trott and KP) during this series. Those rumours going around that Trott was partying with the Saffer side after SAF won and where Trott was in the English squad wouldn't play much to Trott's favour.

Trott is playing at the highest level, which is obviously what any cricketer would want, but is he playing for the right reasons? I'm sure if SA turned around and said jump on board (and there were no issue with requalifying) then I'm sure he'd go back to SAF. For mine it's different to the situations of Morgan and Hamilton, where their nations don't play test cricket.

RSA is such a complete team... it's just that they don't perform when it matters the most. The have two of the most promising young talents in AB Devillers and JP Duminy. (although ABD has been around for some time now!)
 
I'd expect RSA to win both the test as well as the ODI series, but we can't count out ENG, I'm sure they'll put up a decent fight. A lot will once again depend on KP, Strauss and Collingwood though. ENG's bowling will also be tested.

So, people are having problems now with the Saffies in the English squad eh?  So why don't they have a problem when foreigners come in their country and take work that could have gone to the locals?

Ok.  Not much foreigners take up work here, there's nothing big to make here really.  Only companies like maybe Digicel, some Tourism Projects etc maybe run by foreigners.  There's a bit of Chinese, phillipines that works at the hospital and some Taiwanese here too but just a few.

Rich?  No way man, West Indians complain about every little thing they have to pay for, except when it comes to having a fun time, they go and squander money foolishly then will come and say things tough!
 
There's increase in crimes here, mainly because people are lazy to work and they want quick money.  Generally, we have an alright living back here but I won't say Rich.

The Government usually has money, I thought you meant the people in general.  For instance, St. Vincent usually recieves money from Taiwan - they have played a big part in helping to develop our country.  There were guys from China that came here to build Schools - boy, them Chinese could work haha.  We are now in the process of building an International Airport - there are a few countries that has lend a helping hand.  Venezuela has helped - our Prime Minister and Hugo Chevez are good mates - Mexico has donoted stuff as well and a few other countries has helped with money.

Paul Harris will be the test spinner , van der Merwe will get the spot for the one dayers, Botha was called for chucking in a local match , the third time it's happened. Again , the call was made when he "bowled" his doosra - something that he's not used in international matches for some time. There was an internal investigation and , surprise surprise , they cleared him !! 
      A total farce and yet again calls into question the ethic sof the South African Cricket Board.  They're so barefaced , I wouldn't be surprised if he plays in the one dayers starting next week !
