The Lankans tour India to try and make history by winning a test series here for the first time... A formidable lankan team against India in India should be a very very interesti ng contest, although I still believe IND should have the edge in both Tests and ODI's, while the T20's could go either way!

India have recalled Zaheer Khan and S Sreesanth to their test team, while test regulars Dravid and Laxman are also in the squad. Lanka come here with an in form Kulasekara, and the spin trio of Murali, Mendis and Herath.

Anyways It all starts tomorrow and I'm pretty much excited about this contest!

Tests are back ... thank God!! Too much one day cricket of late.

Sreesanth must be the luckiest guy in India to get a spot in the squad. Truly fortunate.

He is good Milks, not too great not too bad.His landing the seam of the ball is comparable to what Hadlee used to do acheive, though Sree has thousands of miles to go that far Smile.

His lead up form is poor Raj, he's done little of note this season. His numbers are okay, but not test selection worthy and he hasn't the talent to be called up on the basis of his skills. He is lucky to be selected. He's selected on this basis that there is virtually no notable pace talent in India.
Sreesanth is nothing like Hadlee, that's a daft comparison.

IND 36/4 already... this is not even a young team that is playing! All these top 6 batsmen have years and years of experience behind them and they are up against two bowlers who were not even supposed to be playing in this match! Pathetic! Thumbs%20Down

Well Dravid has still got it. Nice knock from him and he's consolidated India's innings. No Mendis for SL, still can't squeeze ahead of the in-form and 'resurrected' Herath. Still not comfortable seeing the defensively inept Yuvraj in the side, especially with his poor ability against spin, which SL has a lot of (and quality spin I must add). Although he has performed well.

Super effort from Dravid and Dhoni to get India out of Jail... I must say Yuvi also played really well... all in all terrific fightback from India and the bowlers now need to keep up the good work.

Thushura had a shoulder injury fellas and I reckon because Prasad has more pace is why he got the nod over Kulasekara.

India were undone early by some good swing bowling.  Laxman usually goes in that fashion when the balls aren't coming up because he's a tall bloke.  Rahul Dravid from ball one looked confident - this is why I rate him so highly!  Everyone got trouble with the ball coming back into their pads but he kept on working them off his pads with such ease it seemed!

Pity Dravid couldn't keep it going today and credit to the Lankans for getting through them after such a torrid afternoon yesterday.  426 is a decent score , but no better than that and India aren't safe yet.
Good match in the offing here.

It's not just that runs are being scored but runs are being scored at a very fast rate in this game... I guess we have a good chance of result in this game... IND have the upper hand I'd say, but Lanka have done really well since today morning.

Pity Dravid didn't reach 200. He needed it after his recent dry spell. Id like to see this ray romarno look a like go on for a few years yet.

Dilshan has really come a long long way... Honestly, I didn't expected him to do well in this series but he has scored a century straight away. Except for that first hour of play yesterday, this has been a batting beauty.

India let themselves down. After a disastrous start the rescue work done by none other than the man for the crisis, The Wall, along with Dhoni and Yuvraj ensured they ended day 1 as the better team.

Dravid looked absolutely vintage Dravid. I don't remember the last time he played such a commanding and dominating innings. Those cover drives were a treat to watch as were the elegant flicks and the shot which stood out was the straight six he hit of Herath. A tribute to the Wall on reaching 11,000 test runs and I hope he carries on for a bit longer.

The morning session was going to be crucial and Welagedera once again did the trick for the Lankans. He was really impressive up front while Dhamikka Prasad never bowled the right length for this pitch. Dilshan played like he always does and Sanga will be gutted to have got out after getting off to a start. India need to get one out of Mahela or Thilan out tomorrow morning or else they will be in for a long long day.

Nicely summed up dips, it's shaping up very nicely and the speed both teams have batted at means that a draw is becoming unlikely.

Absolutely disgusting. fast bowlers have done the damage on both the days early in the morning... In this season in India there is always something early in the morniong for the fast bowlers still Dhoni opts for Spin at both ends!!!

The only chance we had of coming back into the game was to pick up early wickets today and that chance has been thrown away by Dhoni! Confused

Nearly 500 runs and they have taken just 5 wickets.... Imagine what a pathetic bowling attack this really is!

The scoring rate has dropped , probably due to the pitch becoming so much slower. Lovely knock again by Jayawardene , 6 double tons , eat your heart out Kallis!  Only one team can win , but I think that the pitch won't deteriorate too much and the Indians will handle Murali and company.
205 is along way from 401 , but it's a possibility if the Lankans think the game's likely to be drawn.  So they might just bat and bat until the top man either gets there (unlikely) or he gets out and then they'll have a bowl.

Another average boosting double ton from Mahela. I'd like to see him make runs on a bowlers pitch, because I really can't remember the last time he made a good ton, against a good attack, in difficult circumstances.  India's attack is poor, this pitch is a road and it's not like SL were under pressure when he came out to bat. Sorry to be so critical, but I'm sick of the direction that test cricket is heading , particularly in the sub continent.

Not so much Sledge, India spent most of the afternoon firing tripe down the leg-side and the Sri Lankans, it has to be said, were quite happy just to let it hit the pads or go through to the wicket-keeper.

Jayawardene also said that he tired in the final session which slowed things a bit.

The pitch is still good for batting on although there is a bit of turn there for the spinners.

I agree with milkman - quite sickening to see these kind of pitches, I already knew it before I saw a ball bowled.  I don't know how Laxman and co missed out in the first innings but I'm confident I could have blazed my way to an electric ton on that pitch!

Yes, not a very good advertisement for test cricket this. At a time when ODI's and T20's are gaining momentum, test cricket is suffering because of tracks like this.

Imagine what the crowd must have gone through watching just 2 wickets in the entire day of the opposition! who will come to watch this now?

700/5 , the partnership is nearing 327! Mishra and Harbhajan have bowled 99 overs between them for 1 wicket! Is this test cricket?

Agreed , these kind of pitches do nothing for the game. A massive 760-7 by the Lankans before the merciful declaration - a big lead of 336.  India now 25-0 and surely with that batting line up should comfortably hold out for the draw - Murali and company will toil just as the Indian attack did.
