I think Neo Sports have tv rights for Asian countries. Not too sure if people in Australia, South Africa, England etc will get to see the games live but if you have anyway of getting Neo Sports, then you should see it.
I'll be catching all the games so will keep you all updated on all the action.

Yesterday, St. Lucia defeated the Cayman Islands by 46 runs. It was a very poor game to be honest. The track had invariable bounce and was a bit slow but was not to bad for stroke playing. St. Lucia got a good start but kept on losing wickets while Cayman Islands' batsmen never really took it to the opposition.
St. Lucia 134/8
C. Mathurin 39(47)
Mohammed 3/35 (4)
Tolloch 2/10 (4)
Cayman Islands 88/8
Best 24
S. Charles 2/8 (4)
C. Charles 2/20 (4)
British Virgin Islands take on Dominica in about 15 minutes time. Will keep you all updated.

No orange balls, all the games are day/nighters.
Yesterday, Dominica (139-7) defeated British Virgin Islands (73). It was a nice wicket for 2020. Ball coming on a bit, getting nice bounce to hit shots but poor BVI. Only one batsman tried to take on the Dominican bowlers and it was the 16 year old opener John. He went early and the collapse started. BVI's fielding was really poor too. They were athletic in the field but misfielded too many and they dropped a fair bit of catches. BVI score is the lowest ever for stanford 2020s.
Shillingford took a spectacular catch and got play of the day - he dived forward full stretch at long off! Edited by spin wizard - 28 January 2008 at 9:17pm |

Gosh, this tournament is heating up. Lyndon James from St. Vincent slammed 70 odd in 34 balls to see them to 168 after a really bad start. St. Maarten looked all but lost in the run chase until John Eugene hit the first stanford 2020 century in no time with some magnificent cricket shots. They lost by 10 runs or so in the end. Yesterday, Grenada took on Anguilla, a team on average age of 19 and a half! Grenada openers especially fletcher was brutal. He was going along real nicely until he got cramps after his half century and was never the same. He got 70 off 45 balls and Grenada reached a hundred going into the ninth over. They reached 177. Anguilla started poorly! never really looked into the game until Banks (44) and Hodge (75no) started to rip the slower bowler apart. Hodge was magnificent as he hit 7 six and about 5 of them was over extra cover playing in and out. He scored at a strike rate of nearly 200.

This competition is also making a mockery on the test pitches back here. The pitches in this tournament has mostly been fast and bouncy. Yesterday was a slow one that turned but got good bounce still. But most of them, its been fast and bouncy. A guy bowled at 80mph and got a ball to smash into Ganga's grill and Ganga's bat was no where near the ball on attempting a pull. Good work Andy Roberts and co. Atleast the guys are playing on better wickets.

I saw one of the matches in which Dane Weston bowled and he looked really impressive. Saw Banks' and Hodge's innings too. Whats Banks doing with the ball? He is better than Rawl lewis isn't he? |

Banks has been a disappointment with the ball.

Well, people rate him and because the tournament is broadcasted all over the caribbean, more people are rating him highly now. He has some attitude problems they say but I for one got surprised by his bowling compare to last seasons and so on when I saw him. He gets a lot of bounce, gets it to turn when the pitch is turning and because of his incredible height, he can get the ball way above the batters eyeline and his accuracy is very good now. He's handy with the willow too so a Windies appearance may be on the cards in ODI's atleast.

A game at hand at the moment. Jamaica vs Guyana. Jamaica made 143 and Guyana currently 26-4 from 6 overs. Daren Powell unleashed a yorker and broke the off stump. The poor batsman being Chanderpaul but it was a top class yorker. Fast and dead on target.

It's Jamaica vs Trinidad for the finals tonight. I surely be supporting the team that has Chris Gayle. Trinidad beat Barbados by 5 runsin the first semi. Sad thing Barbados couldn't chase 120 runs and take a spot in the finals. Jamaica defeated Guyana by one (1) run in the second semi finals. Jamaica were 43-3 off 9.2 overs and did really well to recover to 143. L. Cush the off spinner became the first man to take a hattrick. Guyana also started badly beig 42-5 from 10.2 overs with Chanderpaul nd sarwan bad in the hut.
Jamaica wicketkeeper then drop crandon when he was on 7 or 8 runs, he then went on to make a quikfire 35 runs off 15 balls.
It came down to last four overs with Guyana need 29 runs to win with 4 wickets in hand. J. Taylor return with two overs at the death take one wicket for six runs.
D. Powell, J. Taylor and M. Samuels each bowled 4 overs each with figures off, 2-16, 2-14, and 2-19. Edited by BackFoot Master - 24 February 2008 at 7:48pm |

Watch a poor final. Jamaica got hammered by nine wickets by the mighty Trinis. Jamaica made 91 all out and Trinidad got there into the tenth over. William Perkins made a blistering half century and it was like watching the right handed version of Lara, flairy stroke play. The lad really has class in stroke making! He's about 20, 21 I reckon. If anyone can find a picture of Dave Mohammed's phone celebration it has to go in the caption competition thread.
One of the most bizarre moments I've ever commentated on, as well as the paddle poke played by Lendl Simmons, and the Jamaican fielder hitting the stumps from midwicket with a football style pass along the floor!! |
