Yes, this is the first time and it will be broadcasted live on all the team playing local television. CMC will be the company with the T.V rights I am sure but it have a channel that cmc is linked with in some part of the world named caribbean vision so if any of you all have access to it you can view the games.

You know that in the caribbean league there is leeward, windward, jamaica, barbados, guyana and trinidad that compete for the cup but this time all the countries that make up the leeward and windward island are playing by theirselves so there are now more teams to play and bermuda is involved as well for non west indies member.

here is another update.

The Stanford 20/20 Tournament will feature 19 Caribbean countries vying for the top spot and the top prize of US$1,000,000. Structured as a single elimination knockout competition, the second-place team will receive US$500,000. Slated to be an annual event, the first tournament will take place between mid-July and September 2006 at the Stanford Cricket Ground adjacent to The Sticky Wicket Restaurant & Bar in St. John’s, Antigua. The cricket boards of the top two teams will receive US$200,000 and US$100,000 respectively, which must be used to develop and improve the cricket facilities in those countries.

In addition, the Man of the Match in every game will receive US$25,000 and the Man of the Match in the championship game will receive US$100,000. The Fastest Bowler in each game will receive US$10,000 each game and US$25,000 for the championship game. More than US$28,000,000 has been committed to cricket in the region over the coming year. At the end of the regional 20/20 competition a Stanford Super Star team will be selected by the legends to play one match each against two world-class teams to be named. This will be a winner take-all competition and the grand prize in each match will be a stunning US$5,000,000.

SUPPORT FOR REGIONAL CRICKET DEVELOPMENT

To create an atmosphere for each of the nations to excel within the tournament and to ensure their long-term development, more than US$6,000,000 in support will be provided, financially and otherwise. Each country’s governing cricket body has received US$100,000 to be used for facilities improvement, practice fields and other cricket equipment. An additional US$10,000 stipend per month will be given to support the players and coaches, and US$5,000 per month will be disbursed to be used strictly for maintenance and upkeep of each country’s facilities. Two full-time nutritionists and four professional athletic trainers will be hired to travel around the region regularly in order to train the teams and assist them wherever needed. Airfare is sponsored by Stanford-owned Caribbean Star and Caribbean Sun Airlines, and team uniforms and equipment, expenses and accommodations will be provided for each team.

Teams

Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, British Virgin Island, Cayman Islands, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Monsterrat, Nevis, St.Kitts, St.Lucia, St.Maarten, St.Vincent & the Grenadines (grenadines is my home town), Trinidad and tobago, USVI.

fidel edwards would be the riches kid on the block when this tournament finishes. Imagine US$10,000 being given away to the fastest bowler of the match and currently, edwards is the quickest in the caribbean. He onced clocked 96 mph in england.

Maybe i should start bodybuilding and then participate in a few years time.

Which teams are particapating in this tournament, cause I don't much about the west indies domestic teams.I reckon if Tino Best is playing he could give Fidel Edwards a contest in fastest bowl of the tournament after all they say he reguarly touches the 150 k mark which is frightingly quick. Also Jerome Taylor is another quickey who can reach nearly 150 kp/h tops.

this game is real good for the caribbean cause they will be playing with orange balls, different coloured kits than usual, black shoes and black bats which will make this game look real good.

This tournament sounds really good for the players. Also they seem to get well paid for doing it. When does the tournament start.

St. Marteen and the usvi are curently playing. I got to see the first ball. It was bowled by allan stanford to viv richards to kick start the tournament and the legend viv smashed it for 4. Alan bowled another in which viv clipped of the pads.

cayman islands 176 -4          P. Best 74 (39) , Mohamed 64 (48)

bahamas 118 - 9           ;       Armstrong 40 (46) , Tolloch 4.0.21.5

Best played some very aggressive strokes while mohamed played some unorthodox classy shots. The pair put on 144 in 74 balls. Best , originally from barbados is 42 years of age.

There was a 28 years old playing for the bahamas by the name of Ekanayake. He went to school in sri lanka with kumar sangakkara and he was batting a bit like sangakkara as well. He also bowled slow left armers.

usvi 145 - 7           ;           ;  huggins 51

St. Maarteen 98         &nbs p;      Evan 39

Maybe he just didn't want to make Stanford look bad. Or maybe someone had told him not to smash it out of the park.

Here are the other results

BVI 105 - 9           ;           ;           ;     PIPE 39 (33)

St. Lucia 106 - 5           ;           ;       ATHURION 26 (21)

St. Lucia finished the game with a six straight down the ground. Maraj who played for canada in the world cup appeared for St. Lucia. He bowled well and batted like his normal self. Sammy took away all the awards that included man of the match and play of the day.

Today at 15:00  eastern caribbean time (20:00 bst) , Grenada takes on Dominica and at 19:00 , St.Kitts takes on Nevis.

The pitch for the first few games was keeping low but the ball was still coming on at pace but the pitch is improving every game in terms of the bounce. Just wait until one of the big guns meet an underdog side , they would have been better of without the game.

okay , there were matches that were played on friday.

DOMINICA 83         &nbs p;    THOMAS 22 (20)

GRENADA 84 - 4           ;FLETHCER 47 (49)

ST. KITTS 100         &nb sp;  JACQUES TAYLOR 41 (43)

NEVIS 104 - 3           ;   WOODLEY 56 (36) 7' FOURS 2' SIXES

Nevis polished off the game in the space of 11 overs. One thing for sure is that the windies like they will have a natural lefty from nevis. His name is Keran Powell.

The lad is just 16 years old and made 26 of 18 balls hitting 4 fours and a six off his very first delivery. The lad showed very good timing and a good temparament. When he went for the award for play of the match , the lad speaked well and said he is positive that they can beat the bigger teams. The kid look like an alistair cook. He is currently on a school scholarship in england so who knows , he might even play for the english in the future.

Tomorrow , St. Vincent  (my home side) vs USVI - Should be an easy win for us & Barbados vs Anguilla - this should be the biggest match so far to be played.
