Mark Waugh kills VVS for mine. And even Damien Martyn shouldbe thrown into the mix.
Ideal cricketer: Bowl like Warne, bat like Tendulkar, field like Jonty!!

Zuhair, I'm only 19, soon 20 so no way I could have seen Gower except on tape.  I saw Mark Waugh but everyone has their preference, I agree Mark was all cool one could say when batting but I just like the wristiness of the Indians and of today, no one does it better than VVS.

I think he's a funny story, 6 games with only 1 run under his belt haha, that's funny.

Gee I wasnt aware this one had gone so far. Mark waugh and laxman seem to come up most in discussion of style, class and timing. Why were the waugh twins so different? steve so ugly and mark so pretty. I agree with milky mark waugh so stylish its not funny, martynn to a lesser extent, actually although martyn did look stylish on occassion, make that most occassions i think he looked sometimes ugly compared to mark waugh. laxman certainly has the timing but he is in no way a mark waugh. when in form laxman was good and his timing impeccable but was also capable of ugliness which mark was not. In fact I have never seen afghan play an ugly stroke, even if he tried, but didn't he find some dumb ways to get out. My all time favourite player, perhaps should have choosen juinorrulz

My avatar tells a lot about whom I like most - like the stylists - previously had Martyn in my avatar. And I have also noticed that the new generation of batsmen is effective but not stylish. I am afraid we wont find more stylish batsmen around as the game is changing so rapidly. They will be a lot of accumulators and improvisers - but no real elegant and stylish players.

No, there will always be some batsman with elegance and style. Test specialists (if it lasts, etc.) and technically correct batsman (that makes them automatically stylish) will always be there. The domestic sides of all countries have them but they haven't been selected yet. Murali Vijay was very elegant too during his knock against the Lankans.

I've now decided who's the most elegant batsman i've seen, the one I got the most joy out of watching and that fella goes by the name of Courtney Walsh.  Watching him bat to spinners was a joy, ball spinning and bat ending up between his legs.
