That was his double ton at The Oval in the early 80's ! I
remember Gower declaring and leaving the Windies to score way in excess
of 300 on day 5 and they did it with ease. Some of Greenidge's hitting
was brutal that day! Beefy sorted out the Windies in their 1st
dig and Marshall returned the compliment!
Great game of cricket and just showed why the Windies were the bees knees!
No idea who debuted though , sorry mate!

This was early 50's zuhair , I was barely walking , nevermind
watching cricket! Mahmood was Pakistan's first really talented bowler
and I've seen soundbites of praise from the likes of Shoaib - so he
must've been good.
No idea how he performed in the match but I'd bet Len Hutton was the English captain.

Bit of a shame that I never got to talk to 70DS as himself. Sounded like a real gutbuster.

Is this thread still going?
If it is, who is the only batsmen ever to be given out timed out in first class cricket
As a clue it was an Indian player in a Ranji trophy match and it was recent (1990's)

Sorry sledge, it was a real hard one, apparently the record appears in wisden on the unusual dismissals page, but I guess not many people read wisden (including me)
The answer was Hemulal Yadav

Strokemaker's answer from about 300 years ago was Chris Broad. He sends his love to you as well, Sledge. Just to brighten up your days .
And samhache, apparently you did speak to 70DS because you spoke to Strokemaker, and Sledger is to be told that he's always like hillwalking.
What good that added to the thread, we'll never know.

Yeah, but I never talked to 70DS when he was posting as 70DS. it seems that he was a completely different person whilst acting as Strokemaker.
Not that any of this even matters.

Of course he will be different because he was banned from the best forum in the world because of a very very short fuse of his and strong love of the forum was still there and didn't want to let it go.
Good lesson for all, think before you sting someone very badly. Only string posters hard with cricket facts only.

In the test match, where there were all 3 results still available from the last ball, who bowled the final over? I am talking about the West Indies vs England game.

I remember that one !! Colin Cowdrey had to come to the wicket
with his arm in plaster. Fortunately he didn't have to face a ball as
the match drew to a close. Wes Hall was the bowler and I think Cowdrey
was back out there for three deliveries.
England still lost the series though.

unbelievable. All correct, well done sledger.
Geoff Boycott only ever got one 99* in his whole test career. It was in 1979 in a match against Australia. In that match another player got out on 99, who was it?

That was played in Australia (Perth I think) and what sticks in
the mind was that England's last two batsmen got ducks and left Sir
Geoffrey high and dry on 99 - he was not amused!
Worse still , England lost , but Beefy was man of the
match - he got another 10-fer I think. The other 99er must've
been an Aussie , but I'm far from sure who it was. I'll just
throw in their three best bats - Greg Chappell , Alan Border and Kim
Hughes - take your pick!
