Having recently bought a playstation two for the second time round, I'm on the hunt for new (and old) games to add to my collection. Having recently bought Brian Lara Cricket (first edition) I've been researching the greatest cricket game ever....for ps2.

In my opinion it's Ricky Ponting Cricket 0'5.

What do you guys think based on your experiences?
Good one Graham!

Well it's between Ricky Ponting 07 and EA cricket 07 also ICC 3 is pretty fun. but I don't think its for ps2. EA should be releasing a new cricket game soon.

the current crop of cricket titles are all pretty pathetic- and in EA cricket 07 the keeper takes the stumps off the bails repeatedly even if the batsman is safe. It's glitches galore, I'm afraid.
Good one Graham!

Yeah, the current titles are no where near the best by any means. Some of the earlier games were good. Brain Lara/Ricky Ponting Cricket 05 and EA Cricket 04.

i'm just annoyed that they haven't bothered to improve the 0'5 version. It was a good launching pad for a great game, but its just become more frustrating.

Good one Graham!

I'm surprised no one has come up with the idea of getting rid of the bowling cursor. It be more realistic, in saying that you would never know where the bowler was going to bowl.

Missions/Scenarios from the past was always a good feature in BL/RP Cricket 2005. There were never enough though. If anyone has the game, how long did it take to do the Garfield Sobers' 36 runs in an over scenario? Nearly took a whole day of free time for me to complete!

Cricket's always going to be tough to make a computer game out of, there are so many different scenarios and possibilities and the animation would take a while to get perfect. It might be a couple of years before we see one that's ultimately deemed to be the greatest, although you never know ...

you're right MP, but they best versions of cricket are likely to be on ps3 which is a problem for me because I refuse to play games on computers!
Good one Graham!

they need to get the basics right first before getting ahead of themselves I think.

Exactly! They're always looking to put in new features that they don't even bother fixing up glitches. I'd like to see a third company release their own version of a cricket game, other than EA and Codemasters. Perhaps Xplosiv (Creators of cricket captain on computer) might release something on console.

its a pathetic excuse for a cricket game- they must conquer the basics first to make any sort of meaningful progress. It disappoints me because I do rate EA Sports as a game manufacturer.
Good one Graham!

I found Ricky Ponting '07 great in some ways, but it seemed a bit to commercialised for a cricket game. The bowling was totally weird, with made up deliveries. I own Cricket '07 (EA edition), and it is a decent game with good graphics - but certainly more for the cricket enthusiast, not any joe blo... but the bugs on it tick me off ... bowling is rubbish, always autoplay it.

Hi folks,  just wondering if the crew could suggest a good manager style game that I can download (purchase?). I already play Ricky Ponting on PS2 and XBox so I am looking for something in management-type for something different. I've noticed Battrick to be very in depth and hence would probably be one of the best versions but I'm not sure I have the time to invest in getting it off the ground.

Like most of these games, the harder it is to get going , the better it is down the road. So I guess I'm looking for something in the middle ground. Any ideas?
