There have been a few overseas spinners playing county cricket recently and some home grown english spinners. Warne is also playing county cricket. I feel Mushtaq Ahmed has been the most devastating spinner in the last few seasons atleast. Not many batsmen pick him, he averages about 4-6 wickts a game. Even the great warne cannot match mushy in county cricket. He has been the best by a mile. Is there any one who disagrees?

No. He's amazing at it. He should get what he deserves and play for Pakistan again. Anil Kumble has made a good start as well.

I really can't disagree but warnie wouldn't be concern. Atleast one is playing internationally and the other domestically. International folks don't play as well as they should at the domestic level and its vice versa.

I don't know why ????

He took another 7 wicktes today. What a bowler mushy is, he has the best googly in the world, This man should be playing test cricket. Spinners dnt get hampered by age as fast bowlers, so mushy will be good, also to keep the underperforming Kaneria on his toes.

Yeh but his not in mushy's class is he? He may have done well but no where any as deadly as mushy in all domestic cricket.

Mushy seems untouchable at the moment. He deserves to play for pakistan again. Give Kaneria a kick up the arse.

Thats what i have been saying all along, there is alot of agism in sport. If your good enough age shouldnt be a factor.

Well it's not agism. It's the thought that coaches like to build sides that they know will grow and get better. The problem with picking older players is that the coach knows that it's only a temporary fix. They would much rather find a younger more long term solution to their problems. But i see what your saying and i agree.

True, but i dnt understand when people talk about the future, in a way it means current matches dont matter. I believe in picking your best 11 possible, if a guy in his 30's or older is getting shed load of wickets and runs and is fit enough then they should be given a chance, Mushy and even Ramprakash (if england need him though, which i doubt they do).

True. But if what if we picked our best 11, included a large number of older players and suddenly they either retire or age catches up with them and they hit poor form. Suddenly, loads of new players have to brought in to take their place and the side becomes a shambles of inexperienced players.

I agree that if a players is good enough than age shouldn't matter. I'm just sympathising with selectors. Sod Liam Plunkett, get dominic cork running in for England!

Not a whole sale change TCA!!!! I meant having mushy instead of kaneria, so just one player, it would benefit kaneria so much, he needs competition.

Yeah i was kind of getting side tracked onto a different issue. I was more making a reply to people who think Mahmood, Plunkett and co should be cast aside for hardened veterans like Gough.

Back on track though. I think Mushtaq and Kaneria should be used together. Mushy could really have a positive unfluence on Kaneria.

Mushtaq Ahemd and Kumble should not be brought in. They are International players and are obviously better than the normal County players. They are more experienced.

DF that was not the point of this thread. A spinner in the english game includes EVERY spinner who has played first class cricket, why do you find it difficult to compehend a perfectly simple thread. You are hell bent on getting up peoples nose with your silly ways, no one else mentioned this, but no suprise you mentioning it, its a simple thread to highlght mushy' success and me wanting him to play international cricket. Buddy i have no probs with you, you seem like a hamrless young lad, but make sure you read what you write.

what did you base that on? Mushy has out bowled almost every spinner in county cricket for the last few seasons. This includes warne, monty, kaneria and others. Mushy has been the most threatning, influential and match winning spinner in county cricket, look at the success of Sussex since his arrival.

Mushy hands down but to me he is just the Ramprakash of the bowlers. Fantastic against average opponents but isn't as good at amazing batsman which is exactly the opposite of say Vaughan and Warne.
