Kallis is the best overall best allrounder, true that Flitoff is the better bowler, and him better bats man, ok the word better is an understatemnt for the two. But in general Kallis is the best all rounder.

Quite right Bokkie (and welcome back!) , Kallis is rock solid in the slip cordon.

He surprised me in the final test as well. Lots of consultancy with the senior guys and I thought he bowled beautifully - as good as I've seen from him in many a year.

I beg your pardon cricket_mstr

Kallis is one of the best slip fielders in South African history! He has more catches than Jonty Rhodes!

JH Kallis is the only player in history to have 8000 runs, 200 wickets and 100 catches in BOTH forms of the game. Only Sobers (tests) and Jayasuriya (one dayers) have achieved half that feat.

Well both kalis and flintoff are wonderful not only with the bat but with the ball also so i can only wish to watch them playing for long time without any competition.

If Smith is so good as captain why haven't SA won a test match against Australia?

You don't back off do you lad? Kallis as captain , is as much use as a chocolate fireguard!! Even his own coach says he goes into a world of his own and no-one hears a squeak from him!!

Now tell me why Kallis has the attributes of a captain and why Smith is so , so bad.

Finally (yawn) Clobs is right again , Kallis better batsman , Flintoff better bowler.

Kick Smith out? No, Smith is a great captain. He has great leadership skills, greater than Kallis's.

He should be captain Kallis, for once I'd like to see SA win to kick Smith out of the leading role.

One thing Flintoff does have over Kallis is the fielding department

The recent english upserge is mainly becos of Flintoff being so dependable where as in a few of south african wins Kallis role was far from desired. I think flintoff is more valuable for england compared to Kallis for SA.

Averages prove kallis to be better but recently Flintoff has come of age , and he has become the most dependable bowler in english side but has lost on his batting a little bit. I think if we can have a comparison of last 12 months performance it would be evenly matched. So not much to chose between them.

Okay I'd admit the last thread proved thatmaybe Flintoff is a better player (at least alrounder).

So how about a real alrouder, recently Kallis entered the top 3 batsman in the world with stats like this:

Kallis

  • Batting
  • Runs: Test 7776, ODI 7995
  • Average: Test 56.7, ODI 43,92
  • Bowling
  • Overs he takes to get a wicket: Test 11.3, ODI 6.6
  • Economy: Test 2.79, ODI 4.82

Flintoff

  • Batting
  • Runs: Test 3080, ODI 2642
  • Average: Test 33.47, ODI 35.22
  • Bowling
  • Overs he takes to get a wicket: Test 10.50, ODI 5.96
  • Economy: Test 2.99, ODI 4.39
  • Is it true Kallis has never played a match against England with Flintoff in it, Stats guru doesn't have him
