Isn't dibbly dobbler such an awesome phrase, it has no true meaning, yet perfectly explains what you mean.

I bowl off spin and occasionally leg spin that bowls for wickets.
I am a 5-9 batsman and am predominately a slogger, but I am a bowling all rounder. |

Hmmm sort of, but for the most part i am meant to attack, its just depending on who weve actually managed to get in our team that week, game situation whether i bowl 'harrys' as such.

My role has changed now. Im now 1st or 2nd change now that im bowling club, but rather than look for wickets im also sometimes expected to be a dibbley dobbley bowler that just hits the spot to keep the runs down. I'm looking to up my pace though, im just not really fast enough now im playing a better grade of cricket.

well well...
I used to be a wicket keeper 2 years back, but ever since i had a growth spurt, my coach decided to get me to bowl. For some reason, i improved dramtically, and open bowling for my school team. I don't have a scary pace, but get away swing, occasionally swinging it in. I also get enormous cut, both off and leg, and the scary thing is, i don't know which it is when i release the ball. :P
batting, last season, i went as number 4, and my aim was to murder the bowlers, building upon the solid foundations from those higher above me. But this season, i've been promoted to no. 3, and its pretty hard for me to be defensive and stay in there, given my lack of solid technique and aggresive batting. imagine dhoni opening?
As a fielder, my catching is good, given my time as a keeper. I excell in midoff and deep midwicket. i'm fast, so i can cover quite a bit of ground. i don't hesitate to dive, except for those high catches for which i have to dive forward. someone help me with that yea?
i'm serious in training, and ironically more than i am in the matches itself. I am the team joke (not joker, mind u), and enjoy being one. I love itwhen everyone laughs AT me, for some reason.
Since our national school league has teams that are brilliant and teams that are quite hopeless, i change my mood to fit the opposition. (we are always 2nd in the table). I tend to joke around the field when playing against very weak oppositions. This is because they always seem to bat first for some reason. Bonus points are awarded if we score more than 200, if we get the other team all out, etc. etc. Since they almost always bat 1st (our captain is unlucky), our game plan is to get them past 200, and get them all out within the last 5 overs. This is a tough enough task given that they cannot score more than 50 without err... our help. So i usually lead the plan, by helping them without the match officials suspecting a thing. This includes numerous sights to behold of me playing a fool on the field, diving over perfectly slow balls, tipping catches over the ropes for six, and etc etc.
Admittedly, most credit goes to my team mate, when we were chasing a ball that was sure to stop yards before the boundary, i got there first. For some reason, he pushed me away, and kicked the ball over the ropes. Our team got a warning from the umpires, and our coach got royally ****ed at our whole team, (We never told him of our plans to get the bonus points) earning us 18 rounds around the track.

lets see now
batting : anywhere 5-11. should improve this yar as i have had specialist training in this area.
bowling: left arm chinaman, unusual technique. spins alot though. can sometimes be expensive on a small ground, but usually take my fair share of wickets as well.
fielding: i quite like keeping, got some training keeping last yeaqr although i never get the chance too keep in a game yet. usually around square leg, or somewhere that aint slips, cause im the youngest in the team so im put in all the fielding places where alot of running is involved
hahaha im still tempted to say drink carrier
|
||
|
im a chinaman spin bowler that only uses thumb and finger :P

When I bat, I make the fielders laugh. Clumsier than a one-footed cat on ice :P
Since I'm new to the game, I haven't been given many overs, but I bowl leg spin and get fair turn, enough to trouble the batsmen. I hope to start getting wickets and then bowl more overs next year. I normally field at Square Leg or Mid - off, but I once played at silly point. I was one of 3 year 10's in the team, which also contributed to my lack of opportunity as well. |

I open the batting and try to hold up one end so we don't lose a lot of early wickets.
With the ball I bowl 2nd change and keep it tight, and take wickets from fustration. I vary my deliveries (bit like Vettori but medium bowler).
I field in the slips and try to encourage bowlers a much as possible.

take a look at harrowdrive.com and look at some of the psycology techniques
also remember that the more you play the less nervey you'll get, try not to put oo much pressure on yourself and feel that if you dont proform you letting the team down.
most fear is based on fear of failure, and its not uncommon

Sarcasm right...??? First of all, my parents are more interested in me focusing on my studies. Secondly, I would consider it a disgrace to my family and myself if I represented Canada at the international level. Lastly, I'm only 16, legally not old enough to quit school.
Now, on a more serious note, as far as skill is concerned, I am very confident in my batting abilities. But its just my mentality that bogs me down. I'm WAY too nervy, bottom line. I NEED advice on how to calm my nerves before a game. My coach has tried to help me but nothing really seems to be working.

Last season, I was the captain of my school team.
Batting: Opener - opened the batting all-season for my school team last year. Personally, I feel I have a solid technique. Bowling: left-hand medium pacer, only a back-up bowler. Sometimes, I have my days with the ball. I swing it away from the right-hander. Fielding: I like fielding short. I'm sort of nervy when taking high catches; always had trouble with that. Otherwise, I'm a decent fielder when I try<<<meaning I'm not naturally as quick as flash. Edited by saadadvanced7 - 25 November 2007 at 5:26pm |

Bat: I bat in a variable position, usually middle order, anywhere from 4-7. Role is as a solid base for the innings. Not the most aggressive batsman so I am more likely to build rather than blast a total. Managed to top score most of the games this season.
Bowl: Main spinner in the team. Role depends on the situation, my captain encourages me to give it flight and take wickets. Bowl 3rd or 4th change because we have a plethora of fast bowlers. When put on my I bowl consistently at one end for extended periods if all is going to plan.
Field: Specialist slip fieldsman haven't dropped a catch this season *knock on wood* Keep the talk up, support the bowler.
The Rest: One of the younger members of the team, so no major role so far. We have a large number of recently immigrated Indians in our team so my role, as an Indian that has grown up in Australia, is a little bit as a go-between the two groups. Captain has mentioned if I stay playing he's got me earmarked for future positions of responsibility.
Play for St. Andrew's Gardiner Cricket Club in the Mackey Shield for the Southern Districts and Churches Cricket League in south-eastern Melbourne.

I'm a batsman. You could call me a rather slow run scorer but get's the job done efficently. I bat middle order, 6-ish. Not much of a run setter but a proficent run chaser. Haven't really developed hitting through the left side yet but love the off. I guess you could say I'm a one sided guy! I'm also a leg spin bowler. I can't really take any wickets being bowled. I either toss it up to decieve the batsman in flight and get an lbw or really toss it up and get a catch in the deep. I can also bowl and accurate right arm medium pace that slows the run rate down efficently.
I'm a slip fielder. Haven't dropped many! I've been known to make catches more dramatic then they seem! I can also keep but that's only if it's absolutely necessary. I'm about 3rd in line for keeping. Add to my already remarkable profile I am also captain and a decent one at that. Not to shift the blame but it's my team's fault we don't win as many as we hoped!

I hate bowlers like you, so annoying .
Sometimes i feel that people don't take enough responsibility in their team. At club cricket most of the mental games, responsibility is done by the skipper. I always try to get involved at these levels and have great respect for members of the opposition who do the same.

Bat/Bowl
With the bat as a n0.8 i am jus expected to use my strength to club as many runs as possible by the time ikm either stumped or caught in the deep. With the ball i am expected to take key wickets (no pressure) and keep the rate down. I do this job relitavely well, and i am now used as opening bowler.
The rest
In the changing room i am team clown (nothing ever changes :P) and in the fielsd i keep the fielders alert and make a prat of myself at midwicket.

I love fielding in the deep. I'm a deep legside specialist you can say. I've fielded in the deep a lot of recent times, but no time was on the offside. Only now have I realized. |

I guess my role is the opening batsman or the number 11 batsman, depending on how scary the opening bowlers look! My real role is to take wickets economically and I get used as a bamboozling tool. I usually bowl 1st or 2nd change.
In the field I field at slip or gully; I can't run very fast so I try to make up for that by being pretty talkative. But if I can't catch anything I usually (and quite happily) get shifted off to fine leg.
