I have seen a young bowler jump up and bowl off the left foot. ie: he is not using his right foot to propel himself. He tells me that he does not get as much power as he should.

Let me get this right - bowler should go into the jump, land side-ways with his right foot landing first and then left foot. Then use the power of the right foot to propel forward and bowl at the top of the arm arc. Is this correct?

How can this bowler correct this problem if he has been doing it for a long time?

So, when he is delivering the ball 'at the top of the arc' he is using his left leg instead of his right leg to power through the crease? And he is a right handed bowler?

It sound like he's bowling off the wrong foot. Kind of like Sohail Tanvir does out of the current batch but like mike Procter (spelling??) before him.

There's 2 important questions to be asked here:

1. Does he bowl side on or front on???

2. Is he bowling well???

If he's bowling well and it's not doing him any harm DO NOT FIX IT.

Actually he is not bowling too good. He is not as fast as he should be and his line is wayward.

We suspect that he goes into the bound, lands on his left foot and powers himself off that. His right foot is not used that much.

He is a right hand bowler and bowls side-on. I am told that his right foot should land first and this should power him further in delivery. As he is not using the right foot, he is driving most of the power from his upper half of the body.

Is this correct? If so, how can we correct it especially as he has been bowling like this for years. It needs fixing as we believe he could get much more pace/line if his action is correct.

juts break down his action, it is hard to make out what you mean exactly by what you are saying, but jstu slow down his action and fix it bit by bit, video him bowling and slow that down if you need to, this can also show him what needs correcting.
make sure he bounds off his left foot, lands on his right and releases on his left, that his right leg pushes forward and the right knee driving through the action.
if possible get him driving his chest through and driving his front arm down hard and fast, this will add pace.
i dont kow wat else to say really, just take it back to basics

Thanks for the advice. I will try to video him and watch things in slow-mo.

Will report back here soon.
