Top Sim JP. Enjoyed it a great deal.
Fantastic comeback from my team, after being in the bottom half of the table after about 6 or so games and still managing to comeback and get 2nd. The bowling was the strength of my team, Steyn, Clark and Kartik and given well support by Mills and Flower. Steyn, Clark and Kartik ended in the top 10 bowling ranks.
The most pleasing signing of the season was Grant Flower. He was signed with the intention of him being the player to balance out the squad like in times of injuries and if conditions heavily favoured spinners, he could have played instead of a third seamer or if 3 seamers play and conditions deteriorate, he's there to assist kartik and he did a marvelous job.
The batting wasn't at it's best but did click when needed during the latter half of the season and McKenzie in his last few games was a pleasure, as he helped sneak to valuable wins. The tail end contribution with the bat was majestic and was the reason so many wins were stolen in the end.
KP, Chanderpaul and Sehwag was a big let down with the bat, arguably 3 of the finest around but the batting was lead by Samaraweera and the teenager Barath and the veteran Grant Flower.

Dips : Inconsistency cost us a place in the top 4.
The KKR manager dips_december spoke to the media after his team ended 6th in the first round of the JP Premier League.
On your teams performance.
Dips : We have been on and off. At no point of time did we string together a series of wins. It was a hit and miss sort of a tournament for us. Had we been a bit more consistent with both bat and ball we could have easily ended up in he top 4.
You ended with a win though.
Dips : Yes we did but that's the way it has been. Some convincing wins, some not so convincing wins and some pretty poor losses. If you look at the matches we lost, they were the ones we could have won easily. But, you could say the luck factor was not there with us.
Your decision to drop Ganguly for the last game and that too in front of his home crowd.
Dips : There is no room for sympathy in sport. No one is guaranteed a place. Ganguly was not in the best of form and we desperately wanted to end on the winning note. He realised that he was not contribution had not been uptohis own expectations and he agreed to the decision.
The late inclusions of Yusuf Pathan and Tiwary were a bit of a surprise, your opinion on that.
Dips : Yusuf and Shoaib Malik are pretty much the same type of players. Malik felt uneasy here and Yusuf in Hyderabad. Both me and sam consulted each other as well as the respective players and decided to go ahead with the move. As for Nash, well he was not doing well so the thinktank decided to leave him out and get a local lad in. Tiwary did really well.
On this whole concept.
Dips : It's a tremendous concept. The tournament was a huge success and credit goes to JP. He did a terrific job and the players too lived up to their expectations and performed considerably win.

Bladescape was finally caught up with by the press after the finish of the inaugeral JPPL:
How do you reckon the Melbourne Masters faired during the tournement? Well,we played well, but tapered of towards the end of the season, next year were hoping to keep Badrinath and a few others and pick up stars such as Tendulkar. Are there any perticular performers you'd like to congratulate? Yes actually! Badrinath and Smith(My captain!) for crossing the 1000 run mark for the season,Murali and Mishra for gathering 50 wickets. I'm also happy with Badrinath for being the second highest hundred scorer for the season! Mishra came just second to Arafat as the lowest bowling average with 50+ wickets. Mishra and Murali for the best econimy after bowling 200+ overs. And Taibu for being the best keeper in the tournement. Is there any really bad performers which really let the team down? Definatly!!!! Our icon Siddle will not continue, after averaging 50 along with the young gun paceman Parnell, both dissapointed. Both Thornley and Joyce didn't fire with the bat, along with Taibu, but Taibu's keeping retains his spot, considering he was the keeper with the most dismissals for the tournament. I also need to improve our away record, with a majority of our wins coming from home. What did you think of your late inclusions,Kumar,Klusener and Zoysa? They all lived up to expectations, with Klusener preforming with both bat and ball and Zoysa and Kumar bowling extremely well. Thank you for joining us. It's been a pleasure! |

I'll start by asking, how pleased are you with this season?
Well, to be honest I'm not over the moon about it. We lost a couple of games we should have won and other we lost when the pressure came on. We could have done a lot better. All in all though we won over half the games we played, which is comparable to most teams. The last game though. You've got to be happy with that? Oh yes. I have to admit I thought "here we go again, gunna throw it all away", but I'm proud of the boys, Ryan in particular who stuck his hand up and stopped the game slipping away. Speaking of Ryan, he had a fantastic season didn't he? Haha, yea he didn't do to badly did he. The plan was to have Ryan as back up to Jacob Oram, but obviously bidding didn't go our way and so he became the premier all rounder. Privately, he's dissapointed with his bowling efforts, but his batting has been exceptional and made up for that. Do you think the batsmen let you down? Erm, well firstly, they've done a great job really haven't they. 2nd highest batting bonus points, though a lack of consistancy has damaged the teams chances. Often it was a glut of runs all at once by the batsmen, rather than playing well for several games at a time which showed by sometimes pileing up huge totals, in contrast to two innings defeats as well. The bowlers, they did alright, anything to say about them? Having Bondy was great, he was a great influence, just a shame he got injured in the end. Patel, well he was magnificent really too. Ntini, well he himself has admitted he underperformed a little with the ball, but he still managed 50+ wickets which is awesome. It wasn't our seamers that were worrying though. Our spinners left us down. Monty was awful early on and so was replaced by Harris who had a couple of good games and then lost his form. Chawla didn't get much of a chance but failed to impress. Monty though to his credit started to get into the groove of things in the last few games. Ryan, well as I mentioned earlier really just did all that you can expect of an allrounder. Maharoof, well he surprised the last game, having shaken off the dust the previous game. He bowled really well and its sad he didn't really get any opportunities earlier. Dhoni, will you be looking to retain his services? That's a tough one. He is such a world class performer, and he said he felt good, but he just couldn't do anything right with the bat, and Prior did a great job. We tried him at the top of the order and that didn't work either. We'll take a wait and see approach with Dhoni I think....he might not want to come back. Is there anything else you wish to add? I'd like to mention a few guys, just to give them some recognition. Firstly Phil at the top of the order. He was our top run scorer and did a greeat job opening which is never easy. Bondy, one of the comp's top wicket takers says it all really. Munaf, again one of the top wicket takers, 3rd if I'm not mistaken. Princey and Ryan, both did great jobs in the middle order there, much success revolved around them. And I should mention Punter. Although he was a little bit quieter with the bat than both him and I would have hoped, he played some great innings in crucial moments and was a great team man. Big thanks to JP for running the sim. I think everyone enjoyed it and look forward to the next season, whenever that may be. ![]() ![]() ![]() ...... a round (or a slightly square round) of applause (how cheesy eh?) |

Thanks for setting up the sim JP, sorry I stopped setting orders at the end, but I've been too busy to check the thread. I'd definitely be interested in having another go in a few months though, I should have enough time to actually get on and set orders by then.

It was terrific entertainment JP, The sim was a huge success!!!
I'd like to congratulate Robbie and his team for winning this competition and to all the other teams and their owners for providing such entertainment!!!
I'm very much pleased with my teams 3rd position finish, we played as a unit and I'd like to applaud the performances of each and every player and a special mention to JP Duminy and Mahela Jayawardene, who were the stars of my team! JP Duminy was certainly my most valuable player!!! in Shakib and Oram I think I had the two best allrounders in this competition.
Fantastic stuff guys! Cheers!!!
Looking foward for the next season JP. I also wouldn't mind if we start it in 2-3 months time or may be after the Ashes, that'll be a very good time to start off!!!
Once again, thanks a lot JP and everybody else, it was great fun!!!

Funnily enough, I end up with the 2nd highest batting bonus points, yet it was often my batting that let me down and the reason I didn't do better.

Yes we did have fun JP. It was a brilliant idea and you got tremendous support too. The sim was a success and it was great. Looking forward to seeing the detailed scoreboards so that I can end it up witha nice press conference.
Even you do make a season 2 I will not be taking part in it. I hope a season 2 does happen sometime later if not now. I'll be glad to take part in it again but not this year. Tremendous work JP. Congratulations to you on a job well done and to the top 4 teams and their owners. |

That race for second/third was always close though.
Yes, there'll be opportunities to revamp, although I'm not sure when a second season will start because I'm mega busy at the moment so it might not be for a couple of months yet. Thanks to everyone who's taken part, I hope you've all had a bit of fun. |

Narrow victory to finish off a rather disappointing season. My team did pretty much the same like the actual KKR did last season. A pretty on and off tournament which started brilliantly and faded down the line.

We're an hour away from Derby and we've had no rain all day. Not that there are any first-class ground in Grantham though.

I didn't have time to do these yesterday. If you all do a rain dance so the second IPL game is washed out, I might have them done in about eight hours or so.

Breaking news : Ganguly not in final XI for match against Freuchie
KKR team management have decided to rest captain Sourav Ganguly and give the others a chance as Kolkata continued their indifferent form in the JPPL. Manager dips_december said : "Ganguly is being rested because he has played unchanged throughout and he needed a break. His form has not been brilliant either so the management and Ganguly himself decided to take a break to give Saha and Shukla another go." Dips was also quoted saying : "Its been a rather disappointing performance. The team has been on and off in every alternate game. We have not been consistent enough. Looking forward to a good game next up. Hopefully Dravid and the others coming in can do a good job." Pitch - 2 Outfield - 1 Bounce - 2 Laxmi Ratan Shukla comes in for Ganguly. Dravid will be leading. Parmar in for Yusuf pathan. Jaffer too goes away and Saha comes in. Here is my XI : Wriddhiman Saha Akash Chopra Rahul Dravid (c) Manoj Tiwary AB DeVilliers (wk) Laxmi Ratan Shukla (6) James Franklin (3) Daniel Vettori (4) Chaminda Vaas (1) Ranadeb Bose (2) Monish Parmar (5) |
