zuhair , Nixon might sound like a top keeper , but he wasn't
close to being a Healy. I'd rate Healy right up there with Knott
- both brilliant either standing back or standing up , they made so few
errors.

Hahahaha Nixon! Zuhair, you tickle my funnybone, really thats a classic comment. Im not saying Nixon was bad, but comparing the two is just plain silly.

agreed Samhache. If he was so good, what took him so long to get in the England team.

Healy was very good but there is something you call a born wicket-keeper. And i saw that thing in JAck Russell, Nixon and Latif. Call it comedy, but they really were fine fine keepers

But you have forgotten Kumar Sangakkara who is the current no 1 test player according to the rankings. As we won't see Gilchrist any more it would be Sangakkara

Except he dosen't keep in test cricket anymore, his ODI keeping has dipped since he gave it away fulltime.

Yes it has 143 , but look how his batting's improved in tests by not
keeping any longer. Gilly's batting was never really compromised
as he only came in at 7 , but Sangakkara was in 1st down , which was
asking a hell of a lot.

Kumar Sangakkara should be the best keeper-batsman lately. MacCullum is fast becoming better than Boucher as well, well thats how I see it at-least.

My pick goes with McCullum. Over the past six months hes showed much improvement with the bat, which was the lacking factor in previous years. Hes become a lot more consistent, we've seen this in the england series in NZ. Hes the next Gilchrist!
His keeping has always been top-class.

I wish all the people still advocating Sangakarra would get it into their heads that he isn't keeping any more which is why his batting has improved

I don't think it is possible to prove it. Only theorems have proofs. Postulates won't have.

Sanaga himself accepts the fact that he was nowhere near a very good keepr let alone being the best.

Prasanna looks a very fine keeper indeed. Can't say I blame zuhair.

Over here in Australia, Don Tallon, Wally Grout (extremely highly regarded by Bradman), Rod Marsh and Ian Healy are denoted as the best we've produced.
I'd say Knott is argubly the best, although Healy did keep rather marvellously to Warne (although I'm sure Knott wouldn't have been too bad!).
Sangakkara, Nixon --- come on guys be sensible.
Sanga stopped keeping, and then his batting improved, hence he won't keep again. He was never any good and made a lot of crucial mistakes.
Gilly could hold his spot on the team for both his batting and keeping, and he always did a good job to both spin and pace. Only at the end his keeping began to wane off, but then again he was getting older and he did retire obviously for that reason among others.

I havent seen this new keeper so I will reserve my comments. I however do agree that MacCullum is the next Gilcrist, Bouch has been struggling lately and he looks to score predominantly on the leg-side, which is gon be his downfall for most of the times.

come on guys..you know that McCullum is no where near to sangakkara, as keeper and million miles behind as batmen..and he is much like gilly.. he rarely let down his team..whether it's sri lanka, NCC,central province, or panjab..

I'm pretty sure McCullum is miles ahead of Sangakarra as a keeper, although of course he (sangakarra) doesn't keep anymore. Keeping isn't just taking the ball when its been bowled, also from outfield throws, and my memories of sangakarra are of him stoping/'collecting' throws with his pads and delivered balls going straight through his gloves standing back.

At one time, I thought Kumar's keeping was real good but lately, I'm sure even I could do a job as good as his.

Thats the stupidest comment I've ever seen. Period. Have you ever watched McCullum keep? Ever seen one of the brilliant catches hes taken? Probably not.

I am tempted to laugh, very loudly.
Do you remember the best stumping Sangakkara took in the 2003 World Cup --- that's right he missed it, and Australia won the semi final.
He is a rubbish keeper. McCullem is miles ahead witht he gloves. He is not too shabby with the bat , IPL he's was awesome , against Australia he has been very good too which is a big thing.
Sangakkara if he kept wicket again would have a significant batting test average decrease.. no doubt.
I'm so glad people see how crap his keeping is.
Him and Gilly are not comparable, even Flower gave up the gloves. Different between these 3 for instance is that Gilly was always a keeper 1st, Kumar and Andy's batting kept them in the team not the other way around.
