NZ's 522 for 9 declared in the second test against Sri Lanka was their fourth highest ever total against Sri Lanka in Test cricket and Vincent's 224 was the fourth highest ever score by a Kiwi against Sri Lanka. In the first tes Paul Wiseman went on to equal his own record for the highest 9th wicket partnership by a Kiwi pair against Sri Lanka of 43 with he originally had solely with Ada Parore and then had to share with himself when he repeated the feat with James Franklin. Fed up of having to share that stat with 2 partners he went on to break the record outright and put on 59 with Lou Vincent so to set a new outright record for the highest 9th wicket partnership for NZ against Sri Lanka. Confused? It gets more muddled yet! Before Lou Vincent had Paul Wiseman out there in the middle with him and they set out to reset the record for the 9th wicket stand for the fun of it (either that or out of habbit) Lou managed to put on 48 with James Franklin which is a record for the 7th wicket against Sri Lanka and then once James was back in the pavillion Lou managed to put on 98 with Mills which is a record for the 8th wicket against Sri Lanka by a Kiwi pair. Not wanting to feel left out of all this lower order loyalty between partners Upal Chandana and Thilhan Samaraweera put on 89 for the 8th wicket which is a record for Sri Lanka against NZ. Okay enough of that. let's have a look at the bowling of which there were some pretty good performances. Chris Martin's 6 for 54 was not only his career best figures but also the best ever single innings performance by a Kiwi against Sri Lanka. Apart from no bowling records funnily enough were set or broken even in spite of other good performances including that of Chaminda VAAS though he himself has had amazingly enough had better days against NZ as hard as that is to believe! Of course surfice to say Lou Vincent's 224 was his highest ever Test score.

A few records falling in the One Day series between India and Pakistan:

As mentioned elsewhere a certain player called Afridi scored the joint second fastest One Day century of all time (tied with Brian Lara) which was off just 45 deliveries. He of course already holds the record which he achieved (incredibly on his batting debut) of 37 deliveries against Sri Lanka. He scored 9 maximum's in that innings which is the tied third most in an innings which levels Ijaz Ahmed's 9 in 139 runs, also against India some 8 years ago which are both the tied record for the most 6's in an inningsever in a match against India with the century the quickest ever scored against India. Afridi incidently holds the record for the most 6's in an innings with Sanath Jayasuriya who have both scored 11 in an innings and ironically Jayasuriya got his against Pakistan while Afridi his against Sri Lanka! Also with all those 6's Afridi brought up his 200th maximum in One Day cricket and that now takes him 16 clear of yeah you guessed it Sanath Jayasuriya!! God do those two know how to hit a ball! Ganguly remains 3rd on the all time list with 168 (not that he improved on his total in this series just gone!!!) and Sachin now moving ever closer to Chris Cairns in 4th moving to 144 just 3 behind the Kiwi though of course NZ have to complete their One Day series with Sri Lanka shortly so he may well make it to 150 now and move clear again and Jayasuriya may of course make it to 200 and reclaim top spot on the list which he had before this series. Inzamam consolidating 6th place on that list with 133.

Sachin Tendulkar scored his 38th One Day ton in the series moving 16 ahead now of his nearest rival Sorauv Ganguly who now may never improve on his feat of 22. Sachin is now also coming close to 350 One Day matches and is just 8 short of Wasim Akram's all time record of most matches participarted in. Inzamam is now also close to 350 and Yousef Youhana is now closing in on 200 with Abdul Razzaq a few behind him. Tendulkar also took his 100th catch in One Day cricket as did Inzamam so those two look like they're going at it against each other for a few records. Inzamam also lead Pakistan out for thr 50th time in One Day cricket in that series. Speaking of catches Younis Khan managed to take 4 catches in an innings for the secon time in his career making him the only cricketer in history to ever do so in One Day cricket.

During the series there were a host of high scores with India's 356/9 at the stadium which i'm not even gonna try and attempt to spell was their 3rd highest total ever and their highest against Pakistan. The 315/6 that they couldn't defend was their fifth highest total against Pakistan and in successfully chasing it down and the final delivery going for four it became Pakistan's highest ever chase and the fourth highest of all time. The two totals of 319 made by Pakistan during the series (one of which they successfully chased and the other batting first) were the joint 4th highest ever totals by Pakistan against India. The 303 for 8 was their 8th highest ever total against India and the 298 all out was their 10th highest ever. God i wish the stadiums had easier names to type so you wouldn't have to remember back to which total was for which match! Sorry i would make an attepmt the names are just nuts! The final match in Delhi (typeable at least!) was India's 8th lowest ever total against Pakistan with them only just scraping to 144 so the series just went completely downhill quite literally for India from the beginning to end. The 148 by Shoni was the highest ever score by India against Pakistan and the 9th highest total by an Indian ever. Sachin's 123 was the 6th highest ever score by an Indian against Pakistan with him already having one of the 5 scores against (the third) and the 7th highest too. Sehwag's 108 was the 9th highest ever score by an Indian against Pakistan.

Quite a few record partnerships being set with Dravid and Sehwag's 201 at Kochi (hope i spelt that right) leading the way as the highest ever 3rd wicket stand by India against Pakistan and the 4th wicket stand between the two nations was also broken on India's side with Dravid again involved but this time with Dhoni for a stand of 149 and also again for the 5th wicket for India against Pakistan with him this time out there with Kaif to put on 135 all in this series. Even though it was accademic as the match had already been lost Irfan Pathan and Zaheer Khan put on a stand of 52 which is a record for the 9th wicket for India against Pakistan. The final wicket stand between Naved and Arshad Khan of 42 at Kochi was the highest ever final wicket stand for Pakistan against India. Sachin's 5 for 50 at Kochi 4th best bowling performance by India against Pakistan in a ODM and Naved's 6 for 27 the 3rd highest by a Paki against India in a LOI and his career best figures. Inzamam scored his 2000th One Day run against India (at an average of over 45) which is quite some achievement and Dravid scored his 1500th One Day run against Pakistan. Sehwag scored his 500th run against Pakistan but averages less than 30 against them which is far from his extraordinary Test record against them. Kumble bagged his 50th wicket against Pakistan in One Day cricket with Afridi, Tendulkar and Razzaq all getting past their 25th wicket against the respective nation.

Even though there are a heap more of records i just cannot be bothered to put them up...well not at least that is for the moment.

Just a couple of noted achievements here (couldn't be bothered with them all) The West Indies have now lost 9 LOI matches in a row (hardly a noteable achievement i know) and that is the worst run in the history. Its also an on going sequence so it could well get a lot worse before it gets any better.

South Africa have now on the other won 9 in a row and that is just 2 short of the the second longest streak but a way off the longest streak set by Australia a couple years back. They have now also gone 14 matches without defeat and that's only 7 short of the all time record. Their fortunes seem to be changing for the better. Also Australia have now won 7 in a row and with a series with Bangladesh and England due shortly that stat could jump a bit too.

inzamam is reaching 11 000 ODI runs. it might not be the best but it still an achievement. he is already got the record for most ODI runs by a pakistani. He is also approaching 8000 test runs. again it might not be the best but it's still an achievement. i hope inzamam ends up as the highest test run scorer for pakistan.
Regulation without integration leads to suicide.
