Australian batsman Adam Voges is to return to Nottinghamshire as their overseas player for the 2009 season.
Voges stepped in as a replacement in 2008 when compatriot David Hussey was unavailable due to international and IPL commitments, averaging 34.37 in the LV County Championship.
“Adam made a good contribution and we feel that there’s more to come from him now that he has more experience of English conditions,” Director of Cricket Mick Newell said.
“We were keen to find a player that can commit to us for the whole season and Adam is in a position to do that at the moment.
“He played some good innings for us, did a very good job at first slip and he can bowl left-arm spin. We don’t think that we’ll have quite as much access to Graeme Swann and Samit Patel next season so we may be able to make more use of Adam’s versatility.”
Voges has played one One Day International and two Twenty20 Internationals for his country.
