20-year-old all-rounder Will Adkin has signed a two-year contract with Sussex having progressed through the youth and academy ranks at Hove before making his first-class debut last month.
He played against Surrey at Guildford in a match that was drawn having made his full Sussex debut against the touring Bangladesh side in July.
Standing at 6 foot 9 inches tall, he holds the honour of being the tallest man in county cricket and his new contract will see Sussex support him through the final year of a Sports Science degree at Southampton University.
“It’s nice to see another player come through the academy into the professional ranks," Cricket Performance Manager and Academy Director Keith Greenfield said.
“Will has obvious potential and his performance against Surrey on debut has shown that he can be a quality all-rounder for Sussex for many years to come.
“His height helps him to maintain extra bounce and if his body continues to develop he could become a real handful. He is another fine example from a County that has a strong tradition for producing home-grown players."#
