Adnan Recalled For Leicestershire Trip

Derbyshire Captain Simon Katich has handed a recall to Hassan Adnan for the LV County Championship trip to Grace Road starting tomorrow.

Adnan comes into the side for his first appearance since early June in place of 17-year-old Dan Redfern who misses-out with a toe injury.

A regular in the side during the opening weeks of the season, Adnan never looked out of touch as he consistently reached the 20’s and 30’s only to fall when looking set for a big score.

Now he has been handed another chance to convert those starts and he will be itching to take the opportunity.

And the 33-year-old batsman has fond memories of Grace Road after he starred with 117 in this fixture last season as the game ended in a high-scoring draw.

Michael Dighton is also missing from the side after he picked up a thigh injury during the recent NatWest Pro40 match against Somerset.

Phil Weston looked set the step-in to the side after his assured 38 against the Foxes in the Pro40 match yesterday. But he is struggling with a back injury and will undergo a fitness-test before the decision is made between him and Dan Birch.

Derbyshire also welcome back their premier strike-bowler, Tom Lungley, after he came through a six-over spell in the NatWest Pro40 game against Leicestershire last night.

The 27-year-old paceman has taken 40 first-class wickets so far this season including match figures of nine for 74 when the two sides met back in May.

The Derbyshire 12-man squad in full is as follows: Stephen Stubbings, Travis Birt, Phil Weston, Dan Birch, Hassan Adnan, Simon Katich (c), Greg Smith, Ant Botha, Jamie Pipe (wk), Graham Wagg, Tom Lungley and Kevin Dean.
