ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier Group B, Dubai
Scorecard
Afghanistan confirmed their place in the Super Four stage of the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier by beating the United States of America by 29 runs in Dubai.
Afghanistan made it three wins out of three by posting 135 for four before restricting USA to 106 for seven.
Captain Nowroz Mangal top scored for Afghanistan with 30 in a relatively low-scoring game in which Raees Ahmadzai (26 not out) and Noor Ali (26) also helped Afghanistan put a competitive score on the board despite Mohamamd Shahzad failing to score.
Ali and Mangal were run out with Lennox Cush and Timroy Allen taking a wicket apiece.
USA made a solid start with Sushil Nadkarni (12) and Carl Wright (28) putting the runs on in a steady fashion before Afghanistan began to take wickets.
Cush, Sudesh Dhaniram and Allen then fell for single-figure scores while left the lower order with too much to do and despite 19 in 18 balls from Rashard Marshall, three wickets from Hamid Hasan and two from Mohammad Nabi sealed the game for Afghanistan.
