Afghanistan 129 & 233-7 (Afsar Zazai 87no) beat
Netherlands 133 & 228 (Heggelman 59) by 3 wickets
ICC Intercontinental Cup, Sharjah

18-year-old Afsar Zazai marked his first-class debut by hitting an unbeaten 87 to guide Afghanistan to an impressive come-from-behind victory over the Netherlands in the ICC Intercontinental Cup in Sharjah.

He came to the crease with his side at 86 for four chasing 233 to win and they were in more trouble at 111 for six but his innings turned the match on its head.

Both sides struggled for runs in the first innings as the Netherlands gained a lead of four runs by dismissing Afghanistan for 129 in reply to their score of 133.

Nawroz Mangal (67) stood alone for Afghanistan as Mudassar Bukhari returned six for 43 after Dawlat Zadran and Izatullah Dawlatzai had both taken four wickets.

Tom Heggelman's 59 and 43 apiece from Peter Borren and Pieteer Seelaar then drove the Netherlands to a score of 228 in their second innings.

When Seelaar picked up three wickets during the run chase, it looked as if the Netherlands were heading for victory but it wasn't to be.

After Asghar Stanikzai hit 43 to steady the ship, Zazai combined with Mohammad Nabi (25) and then Samiullah Shenwari (17 not out) to seal a fine win.
