All-rounder Shahid Afridi will captain Pakistan during the World Cup, which gets underway on 19th February, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed.

Afridi has been at the helm during his side's impressive performances in New Zealand, which has seen them clinch the One-Day International series. Misbah-ul-Haq will remain as his vice-captain.

"I had detailed discussions with team management and players in New Zealand regarding captain and vice captain and am pleased to state that everyone fully endorsed these decisions," PCB Chairman Ijaz Butt said.

Pakistan, who are 15/2 to win the event with , begin their World Cup campaign against Kenya on 23rd February.
