Although Australia start the Ashes Series as firm favourites, with most of the bookies, as we countdown to the first Test at the Gabba, in Brisbane; the Ashes will be another thriller, as always, this time around, in Australia.
This year’s new boys! A big squad, but little in the way of match winners. Liam Plunkett comes off a terrific year in white ball cricket for England to lead the attack, but I see the Sixers’ first year being a struggle.
Last year’s surprise package, led by cricket’s best smile and all-round gem, Darren Sammy. He has some excellent players of experience to assist him in trying to repeat last year’s feats in Samit Patel, Lendl Simmons and Luke Wright – but the squad looks thin that aside.
Last year’s top scorer Tamim Iqbal looks to be struggling to make the start of the tournament at least, a big blow if so. Despite this, local boys Imrul Kayes and Mehedi Hasan will add international experience and assist in the pressure situations.
India will this week conclude their series of matches against Australia. There’s to be no rest for the team, though, as they’re almost immediately due back in action against New Zealand. They’ll be facing the Blackcaps in a total of eight matches spread across three weeks.
The upcoming T20 series between India and Australia and it is anyone’s guess as to which team will win the three match series. Australia will be wanting to comeback from an ODI series drubbing and India will want to continue their purple patch in the short format game.
