Ali Brown To Leave Surrey At End Of Season

Surrey have confirmed that they will not be renewing the contract of hard-hitting batsman Alistair Brown at the end of the season.

Brown, who has twice scored double centuries in One Day cricket for the Brown Caps and was capped 16 times for England, joined Surrey in 1988 before making his first-class debut in 1992.

He has scored 14,957 runs at first-class level with 19 hundreds in One Day cricket, including his career-best of 268, a world record, scored against Glamorgan in June 2002.

Brown smashed 176 when Surrey smashed a world record score of 496 against Gloucestershire in April 2007.

Surrey Cricket Manager Alan Butcher said, "Alistair Brown has been a great servant of Surrey County Cricket Club and played a leading role during his successful career with us. We all wish Alistair every success for the future."
