All-Rounder Jadeja Called Up For Sri Lanka Tour

India have named uncapped all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja in their 15-man squad to take on Sri Lanka in five One Day Internationals later this month.

Left-arm spinner Jadeja has been rewarded for consistent performances for Ranji Trophy semi-finalists Saurashtra while fast bowler Praveen Kumar, who played a key role in helping Uttar Pradesh to the final, has been recalled.

Jadeja, who was also part of the Indian Premier League-winning Rajasthan Royals squad, effectively replaces Harbhajan Singh, who has been ruled out of the series, which begins on January 28th in Dambulla.

India will be hoping for a repeat of their tour last year where they won the ODI series 3-2.

In a humdinger of a match, Pakistan beat India by five wickets in the first Twenty20 International at Bangalore. Mohammad Hafeez and Shoaib Malik steered their side home, after the match see-sawed more than once at the Chinnaswamy Stadium. Pakistan won the toss and elected to field first, something Indian skipper MS Dhoni said he would have done as well. For the visitors though, the decision didn't pay any dividends.

Former Indian captain Mohammad Azharuddin has had his life ban from playing cricket lifted by a High Court in Andhra Pradesh. Azharuddin, now 49, played 99 Tests and 334 One-Day Internationals but was found guilty of match-fixing during an investigation in 2000, which also implicated team-mates Ajay Jadeja, Manoj Prabhakar and Ajay Sharma.
