Allan Donald Turns Down ECB Coaching Role

Bowling consultant Allan Donald has turned down the chance to take up a position as England bowling coach, citing an unwillingness to tour for family reasons.

In a statement released by the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) earlier today, Donald said:

"I am grateful to the ECB for the chance to work with the England team and a back room staff that is one of the best in world cricket. It has been an immensely enjoyable time but after 11 years on the road I feel that the commitment I would have to make to touring would be too great.

"I wish Peter Moores, the England team and management every success in the future and I am grateful for the experience of the last five months."

ECB Chief Executive David Collier added, "We are grateful to Allan for his contribution this summer and we fully understand the reasons for his decision not to take up the offer of a full time contract which we offered before the Trent Bridge Test in July."

Donald was taken on on a short-term contract that was then extended to cover the ICC World Twenty20 competition.
