James Anderson is aiming to be firing on all cylinders on England’s tour to India this winter after recharging his batteries during a holiday at Spain’s La Manga Club.

The Lancashire star spent time with his family relaxing and enjoying the facilities of the award-winning five-star resort ahead of leading England’s bowling attack on their four-Test series in the sub-continent.

England depart for their three-month tour of India towards the end of next month and will need Anderson at his best if they are to triumph in conditions that they have traditionally struggled in in the past.

The 30-year-old, currently ranked fifth in the world Test bowler rankings, said: “I would like to say how much I have enjoyed my stay here at La Manga Club. The facilities are great, the weather has been beautiful and I cannot wait to come back.”

Anderson has followed in the footsteps of the likes of England rugby star Nick Easter and ex-British women’s tennis number one Elena Baltacha by becoming an ambassador of the La Manga Club earlier this year.

Set in an area three times the size of Monaco, the prestigious resort is renowned for its first-class range of facilities that has helped it become one of the leading sports and leisure destinations anywhere in the world.

County and international cricket teams use the award-winning venue regularly as a warm-weather training base and the addition of two regulation club turf pitches and four full-length nets has further cemented the resort’s standing as the ‘home of cricket in Spain’.

The Mediterranean climate makes it possible to train outdoors in the sunshine all-year round and La Manga Club also stages a series of popular Cricket España junior cricket academies during school holidays.

In addition, La Manga Club also hosted the Lee Westwood Golf Academy, AC Milan and Real Madrid Junior Football Camps and Daley Thompson Athletics Academy this summer where budding sports stars of the future can improve their skills.

The resort boasts unrivalled facilities as a sport and leisure venue including three 18-hole championship golf courses, a 28-court tennis centre and a 2,000sqm spa and fitness centre. It also offers the choice of a five-star hotel, four-star serviced apartments and townhouses, more than 20 bars and restaurants and great fun for children.
