Worcestershire all-rounder Gareth Andrew has signed a new two-year contract extension that will keep him at New Road until the end of the 2013 season.

The former Somerset player had been subject to speculation that he was set for a move away from the West Midlands but he has decided to stay put.

His game has flourished since moving to Worcestershire, so much so that he has become a genuine all-rounder, highlighted with an innings of 65 not out in an FLt20 match against Warwickshire which helped them win the game from a difficult position.

"I am delighted to extend my contract with the Club for another two years," Andrew said.

"There's a great atmosphere in the dressing room and the team are progressing well for the future. Hopefully we can continue our development to maintain Division One status next year."

Director of Cricket, Steve Rhodes, added: "To hold on to a player of Gareth's abilities is a huge boost to the Club and our supporters. His career is on an upward curve with the best years ahead of him."
