A century from Shaiman Anwar moved United Arab Emirates into fourth place in the World Cricket League Championship courtesy of a 46-run win over Canada.
Anwar's102 not out from 109 balls helped UAE reach a score of 269 for four and in reply, Canada were bowled out for 223.
The victory puts UAE just three points behind Netherlands and Scotland and moves them one point ahead of Afghanistan as the battle to earn direct qualification for the 2015 World Cup intensifies.
Swapnil Patil (43) and Rohan Mustafa (68 not out) also weighed in with runs as UAE finished their innings strongly.
Canada struggled throughout their run chase, and although Ruvindu Gunasekera and Usman Limbada reached half-centuries, and Jimmy Hansra hit 31 in 28 balls, they were well beaten in the end.
Mohammad Naveed picked up four for 39.
The two sides meet again tomorrow (8th August) in the second match.
