Sussex fast bowlers James Anyon and Chris Liddle have put pen to paper on a new contract that keep them at Hove until the end of the 2013 season.

Anyon joined Sussex from Warwickshire in 2009 while Liddle moved from Leicestershire in 2006 and both played key roles in last season's LV= County Championship Division Two success.

Anyon has taken 25 first-class wickets this season while Liddle has also performed strongly following two difficult years struggling with injuries.

Professional Cricket Manager at Sussex, Mark Robinson, said: "Jimmy and Chris have both had very good first halves of the summer. We also believe as a club that their best is still to come. Both are beginning now to grow in confidence, and beginning to feel more comfortable in their roles.

"This extra security should allow them to do that. They should continue only to improve as cricketers and develop into potential match winners for the future."

Anyon said: "I’m delighted to have signed a new contract and I’ll be looking to finish off this season as well as it has started for me.

"Sussex is a great club to play for and I’m grateful for the chance the club have given me in coming here. I’ve settled in well and I’m looking forward to focusing on the next two seasons with the club."

Liddle added: "A year ago today I wouldn’t have thought I’d be involved in the one-day competitions so it’s been a dream come true to be back in the side after having been out with injury for so long.

"To have signed a new two-year deal with the club is amazing and I look forward to helping the club move forward and be successful in all competitions."
