Jamaican fast bowler Jerome Taylor has joined up with the West Indian squad in England and says he is upbeat ahead of the two-Test series which begins at Lord's next Wednesday (6th May).
Speaking after a three-hour training session ahead of his side's four-day warm-up match against England Lions at Derby, the 24-year-old said:
“Everything went well and I’m feeling alright. It’s a matter of getting back in the groove and doing the job. Each and every moment I go on the park I look to do well … for West Indies, for my country, for myself and my family.
“It is always a pleasure to be among the boys [West Indies team]. I missed being among the boys when I was not playing so and I’m happy to back. We all get along well together and we have a good team spirit.”
Taylor has come of age in the last 12 months, registering his maiden Test century in New Zealand and then returning figures of five for 11 as England were bowled out for 51 in Jamaica, the West Indies going on to win the series 1-0.
“I’m very, very upbeat about this tour and I’m looking forward to doing very well," Taylor added. "We have the ammunition, but as we all know cricket is played on the day or in this case over five days. We have to do the basics and play with confidence.”
The England Lions-West Indies game kicks off today (30th April).
