Fast bowler Morne Morkel has been added to South Africa's squad for the ongoing One-Day International series against England.

Morkel, brother of all-rounder Albie, will join up with the squad in time for the third match in Cape Town and will cover for injuries to all-rounder Jacques Kallis and left-arm quick Wayne Parnell.

“Morne will join up with the squad in Cape Town on Wednesday,” selection chief Mike Procter said. “He has shown good form in domestic cricket this season and was also impressive in the 50 overs match for South Africa A against England a week ago.

“He will definitely form part of our plans for the Castle Test series as well so the sooner we have him involved with the team the better,” he added.

Morkel played seven of the ten ODIs against Australia last season and has played 18 ODIs for South Africa in all since making his debut in 2007 and he joins Herschelle Gibbs in being recalled ahead of the match in Cape Town.

South Africa trail the five-match series 1-0 after the opening match was washed out in Johannesburg and England took a seven-wicket win at Centurion Park.
