Uncapped batsman Ashan Priyanjan will fly to Bangladesh as a replacement for Prasanna Jayawardene, who has left the tour following the death of his father.
Jayawardene missed the start of the ongoing opening Test in Mirpur as he returned home to be with his family.
Dinesh Chandimal took over wicket-keeping duties and with Kaushal Silva and Kumar Sangakkara also in the squad, the selectors have picked another specialist batsman to add cover for Sri Lanka.
Kithruwan Vithanage came into the playing line-up in place of Jayawardene and registered his maiden century in Sri Lanka's first innings of 730 for six declared.
Priyanjan is yet to feature in Test cricket but played in the final two One-Day Internationals against Pakistan in the United Arab Emirates.
He scored 74 on debut in Abu Dhabi and made one in the final match at the same venue, which Sri Lanka won by two wickets.
In 57 first-class matches, Priyanjan has scored 3,006 runs at an average of 37.57 with a highest score of 235.
He has also taken 17 wickets as a right-arm medium-fast bowler.
