Ashley Giles Back On Track

Ashley Giles will join the Bears this week for some skill sessions starting with a fitness session at the Alexander Stadium tomorrow. Ashley has started training again after flying home to be with his wife Stine who was diagnosed with a brain tumor while he was in Australia.

The Warwickshire CCC squad train at the Alexander Stadium every Wednesday morning. They start the session in the weights room followed by an hour and a half on the track. The Bears will be put through their paces by Fitness and Conditioning Coach Simon Hollyhead, “The boys will so some interval training, some hurdle work and repeated sprints which is all aimed to increase their power and strength before the start of the season.”

Ashley has been named in the provisional 30-man squad for the World Cup and has stated he would love to travel if selected. The final 15-man squad is due to be announced on 15th February. Ashley confirmed if he does not tour with England in 2007 he wants to play for the Bears as much as possible.

Ashley commented, “I’m pleased to be back in training with the team. I haven’t done a pre-season with the Bears for a long time and I’m looking forward to giving 100% for the Bears and all involved with Edgbaston. Obviously, I am hoping to be selected in the World Cup squad but if not I’d like to play a full part in the 2007 season for Warwickshire CCC.”
