Ashraful Disappointed With Lack Of Sensible Batting
Monday 24 September 2007Bangladesh captain Mohammad Ashraful believes that a more sensible and disciplined batting display from his side could have seen them through to the semi-finals of the ICC World Twenty20.
Speaking to reporters in Dhaka, he said, "We hit our target by qualifying...but a little sensible batting could have given us another two to three victories."
Their qualification for the Super Eights was achieved thanks to a composed victory over West Indies, but thereafter, they flashed all too briefly and failed to win any of their final four matches against South Africa, Australia, Sri Lanka or Pakistan.
"Had there been another 15 to 20 runs on the board, we could have won against South Africa and Pakistan," Ashraful added.
"We should have won the match against Sri Lanka too after restricting them to below 150."
