The ICC has announced the dates and format of the qualifying tournament for the 2012 World Twenty 20, which will be held in Sri Lanka in September. The 16-team event will begin in the UAE on 13th March, and encompass five different grounds in three different emirates, before coming to its conclusion in a tournament final on 24th March in Dubai.
Pakistan will meet Afghanistan in a One-Day International as part of their preparations for the one-day series against England in February.
The two sides will contest an ODI for the first time, although a Pakistan A side beat Afghanistan in three one-day games earlier this year.
Ireland skipper William Porterfield is to captain an International Cricket Council (ICC) Combined Associate and Affiliate XI against England in a three-day game in Dubai from 7th to 9th January.

Sri Lanka bounced back from their opening day defeat to South Africa by beating Netherlands by seven wickets at the ICC Women's World Cup Qualifier Group A fixture at Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Pakistan prevailed in the final over England to be crowned Hong Kong Sixes champions for a record-equalling fifth time on the final day in Kowloon. Sri Lanka and hosts Hong Kong were the losing semi-finalists.

The ten teams involved in the ICC Women's World Cup qualifier have named their 14-player squads for the tournament, which begins in Bangladesh on 14th November.

Sano Cricket Club has won the second annual Srilankan Airlines Japan Cup which was held from 8th to 10th October.
The three day Twenty20 national championship was played at Fuji Cricket Ground with five teams vying for the title. Sano Cricket Club qualified to play in the championship by winning the North Kanto qualifying tournament.
The United Arab Emirates sealed a second successive one-day victory over Afghanistan with a comprehensive 69-run victory in Sharjah.
Khurram Khan once again put in an outstanding performance to first top score with 43 as the UAE closed on 221 for eight and then take three wickets as Afghanistan were bowled out for 152 in reply.
